appx 6 inches by 1 and 1/2 inches. i think its platinum rimmed as it is not marked sterling. it is highly detailed with a little porceline picture of a butterfly on a flower. colors are very basic and it is in very good condition. the pewter frame is very ornate. This is a girly girl type collectible i believe that the handle is marbled green glass. the case has a plastic bone shaped button closure and is a very thick patterned cardboard. i am calling it vintage but it is obviously old. b sure to look at both photos.

Is it marked platinum anywhere on it?

it is not marked. it could be nickel, pewter, silver, or just plain metal but it is very ornate in its design surrounding the mirror and painted top. sorry i took so long but i am baffled. it is beautiful though. teresa

as soon as i get home i will check to see if there are any platinum or silver markings but it will be tuesday sometime. sorry. t p.s. i think its pewter cause of the blackish shadow in the crevaces of the swirls. teresa
