Description

The listing, Rare and Complete Atlas Comics, "Lovers" 10 Cent Pre-Code Comic Book (April 1953 Before CCA!) has ended.

For your consideration:

This is a hard to find "Pre-Code" comic book that was published in April of 1953. Pre-Code comic books (printed prior to 1954) were not wholly censored by an agency for "questionable morality." Pre-Code comic books were considered "vulgar" and "raunchy" by many people of the day, much like Pre-Code movies were back in the 30's here in the USA.

A little about Atlas Comics:

Atlas Comics is the 1950s comic book publishing company that evolved into Marvel Comics. Magazine and paperback novel publisher Martin Goodman, whose business strategy involved having a multitude of corporate entities, used Atlas as the umbrella name for his comic-book division during this time. Atlas, which itself had evolved out of Goodman's 1940s comic-book division, Timely Comics, was located on the 14th floor of the Empire State Building.

This comic book is not pornographic or anything of the like. It is just a little "naughty" for the times. This comic is in what I would call "Good (GD)" condition; a totally readable comic with some desire for being collectable but, being extremely more collectable as a Golden Age Comic vs. a Modern Age comic in the same condition. There are several flaws but, again, as it is such an old comic, it is still highly desirable for the comic book collector. That being said, I must say that I am not a professional appraiser of comic books. I have, however, graded this issue honestly and to the best of my ability while utilizing modern comic book grading scales, such as Overstreet's, for a template. If you should have any questions about this comic book, do not hesitate to ask. I will get back with you faster than a wink! Thanks so much for looking!

Sincerely,
jimvertigo

Ah no sorry you are about two years to late. I sold my five shelve book case that was stuffed full of graphic novels and manga's. I'm selling/donating or given away nearly everything. I am building a tiny house and either buying land in NH or moving out of the country to enjoy life more. So everything has to go. You never realise how much junk a person can collect and become attached to until it's time to move or down size. And most of my books I have sold and move to my kindle. Still have allot more to go through too.

I"m not at all into Manga......it's just too prevalent for me to try to catch up on. And I'm not generally attracted to black and white comic book art.....so...anyways. I'm currently trying to find a good price on a complete set of "Sandman" graphic novels from Neil Gaiman. Almost snagged a complete set on Ebay for 100 bucks but, was outbid in the last seconds. <argh!>.

Yup I have the complete platinum collection of cowboy beebop and the movie and all of the ghost in the shells along with the stand alone complex. But I am not parting it out it's goes as one huge collection. I've been collecting them for over 18 years. About 20 years. Far before most Americans knew that Japanese made cartoons. (we didn't call it anime) Americans gave it that name. :p

Beebop rocks it! I hear Keanu Reeves is supposed to be playing the main character in a live action rendition that is in the works. That might work....I don't know. We'll have to see. :)

Thanks! Feel free to bid or to share with comic book collecting friends! Btw, if you don't have enough credits to bid on this comic (or ANYTHING ON LISTIA) you can directly buy points from Listia through paypal for around $5 USD per 2500 points. Sometimes they run specials too. Thanks again!

I'm a senior member on here, that knows the in's and out's of listia. Credits aren't a issue for me. But I am getting rid of all of my comics, I'm not collecting anymore. I had a ton of these issues, but sold them all, and allot of golden age comcis as well. I just wanted to leave a positive post about the comic to whomever was interested in it.

Aww ! Thanks! That's awesome! Yeah I'm clearing out all my comics too. There's just too many of them and not enough time! I do collect trade paperbacks/graphic novels still so if you've got any of those to auction, I'd be thrilled to take a look at them! Thanks again!

If you are interested in Anime I have a HUGE collection that I am selling. 164 complete different titles. I'm still debating my playstation classic collection may back it all up onto a hard drive and sell that too. I do not know yet on those.

What do you have as single titles and do you have any box sets like Cowboy Beebop?
Jul 23rd, 2014 at 11:11:28 AM PDT by

Oh sorry nearly everything is complete box sets or movies. I really never did movies. I had a thing for having to have the "special tin or wooden box sets" or the platinum collections. I have a very few singles I think they are new still in the wrapping. It's on craigslist right now. I will keep it there for about a month if no one buys it, it will be going to ebay. You would have to have some pockets to buy it though. Most of my things are not cheap. I keep everything in good shape and stored in a pet free, smoke free home.

Dog gone it all! Haha. I'm far (too far) from being rich and on the bottom rung of "society" if you ask the rich or middle class. so You have no chance of me being a likely buyer. :( too bad we can't do business on a smaller scale. Best wishes in your selling the complete collection!

No problem or hard feelings :)
It's a big collection from a long time of collecting. I'm sure that at the end of the day I will have to list it on ebay. I'm downsizing big time and love it. I'm just tired of having stuff I want to live small and simple now. ^_^
Thank you for the chat, and btw I'm a huge trekkie fan!!! It's one of the reasons why I became a physicist and a chemical/engineer :-)

Thanks to you also! God bless you in your noble quest to downsize in a society that encourages unbridled materialism. Take care now!
