Description

The listing, 8 Dragon Fruit Cuttings DIFFERENT VAR. has ended.

Small sizes from 4" to 9" of Vietnamese White, Purple Haze, American Beauty, Santa Barbra Red, Exotica, Voodoo Child, Hylocereus undatus, Thompson S-8
The flower is of Exotica and it is a yellow fruiting and very sweet. Because of space I can only grow one variety inside to fruiting size at a time and last year was Exotica. I live in zone 5a and have to be bring inside for late fall and winter. The taste of all these varieties are sweet and light and too hard for me to try and explain and do it justice. I am auctioning small pieces but they will grow fast for you. Winner must pay shipping and I believe $4.00 will cover it, if it does not, I will cover the rest and it will have tracking. These have spines and are very sharp! PLEASE don not bid if you plan on growing these where children and pets can be poked by them. I do sell these separately, inquire if interested through Lista e-mail.

How long until the cuttings are big enough to produce fruit? What zones is it safe for them outside all year? I am in SC and possibly interested in the medium box.

Hi shari, dragon fruit cactus can take slight frosts but not heavy or constant cold temps and no freezing temps. I don't know what zone your in, but do know your weather is much warmer longer than mine. Many people I know in the warmer states have told me with the right care, some shade at the base of the plant and full sun for the tops of the cactus is what gives their cactus an advantage, to grow faster and stronger and their cactus produces fruit within 2 to 3 years.

From conversing with another person here, if you are in California and bidding on this, might not be a good idea as there could be restrictions for that state. Please check with your states laws.

Jul 19th, 2014 at 10:08:27 AM PDT by
Original
Hi John, I wasn't going to do GIN, If I did it would be in the ball park of around 35,000 These are plants that were sent to me through Vietnam, Nicaragua and some other places, not bought from stores like Lowes etc.

I have around 15 dragon fruit plants going....is there any way to tell what color they are ahead of time? I know they were marked at one point, but now there's nothing there.:-(

Some are easy for the pitaya connoisseur to tell. They go by the color of the plant and the different needle points on the plants. You would have to do research for that. It is very long.

you have told me the shipping cost will be $4.00 but reading the update you have on here it says $16.00 or $26.00, I know small flat rate shipping is $5.12 and that comes with tracking number and insurance, I need to know before I can bid, I am very interested in this auction, thank you

The ones being auctioned are for $4.00 the ones I'm selling are not. I'm not sure what part of the country you are at but in my area a small flat rate box is $5.20 then .85 for tracking. Rates went up last year again.

Also you do not want to treat these cactus as desert cactus, treat these as normal houseplants if grown inside. They do need water as much as regular plants. They can take long dry spells but it will keep it from growing fast. Keep them watered and they will thrive, just don't let the roots sit in water or they will rot. Good drainage is essential.

They will grow large and people in warmer states that do not have to deal with much freezing temps often grow these to climb onto trees. They will need support and something for them to climb.

Jul 19th, 2014 at 11:52:01 AM PDT by

I like poppies also and years back I never had any problems growing them and keeping them alive, now the last 10 years or more, they always die on me. Sounds like you have a very interesting garden and I understand about the addition part. Mine is garlic and strawberries (outside) tropicals (inside)
