Description

The listing, 236 year old twenty dollar US note has ended.

Up for grabs is a twenty US dollar note it was printed in 1778 by Hall and Sellers. It is in rough shape but due to age it is to be expected it has browned and is wrinkled folded and has a couple tiny holes and cuts where it was most likely due to being folded. This would be a wonderful addition to add to a collector of old currency. Please no rude remarks about starting bid or GIN I will block you thank you and let this be fun for everyone.

I have to ask, where did you ever find this....I never give much credence to the condition of an object, I am so much more interested in its age...I looked these 2 up...Hall was a partner of Benjamin Franklin in his printing business.. This is so fascinating!!

I'd agree iF this is a repo it's VERY well done.. I'm an avid collector of old paper and this would have taken quite a bit of effort to be a repo...

the best way to tell a fake from the real thing is the ink on the signatures, if they are slightly brown they are real, because of the Iron in the ink back then would almost burn the paper hence the brownish color.

If the Signatures are the same color as the rest of the ink its a good chance its a fake

Actually never mind. Enlarge the picture and take a peak.. it speaks for itself. .. this isn't an original. VERY Nicely done but not quite 200 years old.

You know when I listed this it wasn't to trick anyone It just never occurred to me that anyone would go to such lengths to make pretty convincing reproductions. And the ink is black on the signatures. I deal mainly with antique furniture and lamps I have a pair point original lamp that's worth $44,000 not the oldest item I have but it is the most expensive the oldest item is a black forest cuckoo clock it's around 200 yrs old.

It's fine I fell bad I try to be honest I hope if this goes through auction someone reads the update and wants it for novelty otherwise I'll take it down if people have issues with that. That's all :).

I'll bid reasonable on it as a novelty. As I said before I love old paper this would be nice just for display purposes. No complaints if I win! :)

Would also love this as novelty ephemera...after my cousin did some extensive and time-consuming research on our ancestry, she found out that we were related to Benjamin Franklin... (also found out descendants of Massasoit, lol! :)
