Description

The listing, RENAISSANCE STYLE, BEJEWELED SCISSORS WITH SCABBARD has ended.

I purchased this absolutely GORGEOUS piece at a Renaissance Festival a couple of years ago, and they've been sitting on a shelf, unused, and under appreciated every since. Both decorative AND functional, this artistic example of renaissance craftsmanship, would make a lovely gift for either a collector, or would look lovely adorning the desk of any stylish businesswoman.

The handles and scabbard are constructed of an alloy metal, and the blades are marked '440. Stainless'. The blades are fully sharpened, and have never been used. The dimensions as shown in the photos I've posted:
11" Overall Length
2" At Widest Point
6" 440. Stainless Steel Blades
6.6 oz Total Weight (including Scabbard)

The finger holes are small, so they would be best intended for a lady's use. I wear a size 10 ring on my right hand 'ring finger' and the finger holes are snug, but comfortable for me. So just to be certain, this piece could not be comfortably used by a man with large hands, but it SHOULD be comfortable for most ladies to use.

The condition of this item is excellent, all of the jewels are in place, with no scratches, marks, or flaws of any kind, so it would be perfect for gift giving.

I will ship on the first Postal business day following the receipt of the winner's Listia Approved Shipping Information, and will share the Tracking information with you so that you will have the comfort of being fully informed as to the location of your shipment as it travels to you. For non US recipients, if you wish to message me your shipping address no less than 3 days PRIOR to the end of this auction, I will calculate the exact shipping cost, and let you know the amount so you can decide whether or not you wish to bid. Of course, for international shipping, 'tracking' service comes at a premium cost, so it will be up to you whether or not you want me to use tracking service.

Please feel free to ask questions.
Thank you for stopping by.

Who care if you bought them for a $1, you are offering them for "FREE" if people have a bidding war and bids get to 500,000 then so be it. What business is it of this other person to make your auction her personal crusade. That's actually pretty rude, especially since you never made any false claims. I think she needs to mind her own auctions! Beautiful scissors!

Thank you Dear, for your supportive comment. This is actually the very first time in over 4 years of being a Listian, that I've ever had to 'deal' with such an aggressively negative person, and I'm overwhelmed at the support and sweetness demonstrated by my watchers and bidders. You all have taken what was once a terrible feeling, and turned it into a 'warm fuzzy' feeling. Again, thank you so very much <3

LOL @ 'Soooo shiny, but soooo tiny'!
People get so defensive! I'm sorry you had a similar experience :-(
Listia to me, is a fun hobby, not a source of 'drama'. I say, lets keep Listia fun & lighthearted! Thank you for your kind comment :-)

Very nice auction! I am curious as to how they were represented when you purchased them. Were you told they were new or antique or "replica" or did you ask. I would fan you, but have reached a fan limit, will be a future fan! Thanks so much.

Thank you for your comment and question. I fully understand about the 'fanning limit' :-)

As to how these were represented ... I'd wandered into an artisan's stand at a Renaissance Festival, and with the exception of some incense and some jewelry, everything they had displayed, appeared to be one of a kind and most of their items appeared to be handmade. The scissors were one of a kind, and just laying there in a display on some kind of animal skin, with no kind of signage or price tag. To be honest, I did not inquire as to whether they were antique, replica, old or new. I was just do 'taken' by their beauty, that I only knew I WANTED them! I apologize for bring so 'vague' about their origin, but if I had to venture a guess, I would say 'replica' ... For the simple reason that the blade is marked as '440 Stainless'. If they were antique, I do not believe they would bear a mark like that.

Again, thank you for your question, and if you decide to bid, I wish you good luck.

These are beautiful ..... I agree with the majority of people who already commented here. Didn't anyone ever teach that person the golden rule .. " if you have nothing nice to say , don't say anything at all'? I wish you the best of luck with your auction & thank you for sharing such a beautiful piece on here :)

Thank you Dear <3
I have received a reply from the support ticket I sent in regarding this. I trust that Listia will take any appropriate action necessary to prevent her from messaging any more of you. I just wonder if she goes through ALL the auctions, finding items being sold for actual 'money' elsewhere, and messages bidders to let them know. I never said this was the only pair of scissors like this in the world! Oh well ... I suppose it takes all kinds! Hugs to you and ALL my watchers and bidders!

You haven't done anything wrong at all. You never once claimed they are antique and made a point to explain how you acquired them and how they are stamped, etc. ... It's good she blocked you, that way you don't have to put up with her negativity anymore, LOL. I found that sometimes the blocking takes a bit to go through, so that will probably be the last email you'll receive from her unless she unblocks you.

I got a simple message from them as well, but nothing nasty. I'll admit I'm hoping I get outbid so I can buy one myself, (I bid about $50 worth of credits) but if not, with the extras you're sending, I feel this is a good buy; and I understand buying it for more at Ren faires and the like. They sell them that way as a convenience. Also, as these ARE limited, and there are only 5 left, that makes a difference. In very little time (unless they restock), these will be a lot rareer and harder to buy just anywhere.

And even if you had known the info and just left it out, it isn't ripping people off, because you aren't offering people something they need, being one of the only places people can get it. It's called enterprising--the American dream. XD Nothing wrong with it IMHO.

BTW, I meant to say "Please fan back" up there--not bid back. D'oh!

I have a pair of sort of like these and I love them. They are fully functioning scissors with a beautiful solid scabbard. Nothing plastic in this beautiful set. I have mine sitting in a display case with my other knives and swords and I get compliments all the time on them. They have some weight to them and the fast that you are offering free shipping along with an amazing one of a kind box is amazing. These are so beautiful and since I know the quality of the pair I have, I just might bid on these as well. Beautiful job on the box and fantastic auction. New fan, watching and bidding.

Well sure! Just message me here, or on my fb account (we are not permitted to share our email addresses here the last I remember). I will send you a fb friend request to make it easier. You can send, or tag me in some pics that reflect what you have in mind, and give me some specifications. I'm sure we can arrive at something for a GIN auction (I do not wish to earn any money).

Exactly ... That's the way I felt when I bought them :-) that person implied that I'd led people to believe they were something OTHER than a replica, when I never did any such thing. They are just an AWESOMELY beautiful pair of scissors, that are both decorative and functional. Nothing more, nothing less. Thank you for your kind comment <3

Boy oh boy, I REALLY did stress about making the box! I had no idea it was so complicated! It was my very first one, and I wanted so badly for it to be 'special'. The next one I do will be easier, as I'll try and 'avoid' using Silk Brocade rather than literally 'choosing' the stuff :-) Now that I know where the 'cuts' go, the next one should be Easy Peezy!

Sweetie, there is nothing wrong with wanting to buy a pair! I wouldn't have given the information in my updates, if I didn't want people to be able to purchase them :-) so please don't feel bay, just enjoy them! If you want a nice display case for them, take a look at the pics I posted of the one I made for these. I can either tell you how to make one, or make one for you and do a GIN auction for you. The one I made, was a total of $31.47 (before taxes) I wonder if anyone has a scrap of'batting' they would give me for my covered box project? I'm making the formed satin insert for the box, and batting around the form inset, would be just the right touch.in materials, but it took from 6:30 in the morning, until 5:45 in the evening to make it. Though some of that time was spent calculating cuts, researching methods, and tearing my hair out! Anyway ... Thank you for your support and kindness <3
