Up for grabs one lot of four (4) Canadian Large Cent ‘George V’ coins: one (1) 1915; one (1) 1916; one (1) 1917 and one (1) 1918. The reverse (2nd through 5th photos) features a serpentine vine with 16 maple leaves, the denomination and year; the obverse (6th photo) features King George V.

The metal composition is copper (95.5%); tin (3%); zinc (1.5%) with a plain edge; diameter: 25.4 mm; weight: 5.67 grams. Mintages were: 1915 - 4,932,000; 1916 - 11,899,000; 1917 - 11,899,000; and 1918 - 12,971,000.

PLEASE NOTE - These coins are in well-circulated condition; you will receive the exact coins shown in the photographs. Coin easels NOT included. ;-)

INTERESTING FACT - In 2012 Canada discontinued the one cent (“penny”) coin and phased it out of circulation in 2012. Though ‘cents’ are still used for digital transactions and cheques, all cash transactions are (now) rounded to the nearest five (5) cents.

Thank you. Yeah, I never would have thought "pennies" would appeal to me at all - but what an affordable way to grab a piece of, (surprisingly) aesthetically pleasing, history. And their size is pretty cool too. ;-)
