I have included a video of an Oster undercoat rake, different color, but works the same as this one. The rake listed here is for medium to long coats as well.

does it work on a shedding cat?

Don't know the answer to that. Rake says it is for dogs. Whether this works on a cat or not, can't say. If it was a super long hair cat, I wouldn't see where one couldn't use it on a cat.
