Description

The listing, VERY OLD AMERICAN FLAG has ended.

Hello and thank you for visiting my listing.
The photo's does not do the justice, and this flag is old.
48 stars, so this tells me it was made before Alaska and Hawaii became states. So this means this flag is around 70 years old or older.
There are some holes in this flag and it just make it look even more cool.
The flag measures 32" X 58"
Good luck and happy bidding.

my dad has one of these 48 star flags that his father had given him. it is perfect condition. it is a little shorter than flags now days but my sister went and had it professionally folded like military and got a flag holder. my mom fixed it up so that my dads medals and a picture of him in is uniform was in the case. My dad served in the Korean war which was a few years before Alaska and Hawaii. Hawaii came in the year I was born in 1959.

Barbara, I think what you are thinking is different. They just set there highest bid and you have to out bid them to be the high bidder.

To the person worried about "auto-bidding." I'm assuming you're referring to someone using a "Snipe" program, which will monitor an auction & place a winning bid (Snipe) in the last few seconds. To the best of my knowledge, there are no Snipe programs out there that work on this site, which is a good thing. Or you may be referring to "proxy bidding," which Listia does use. All that means is that a person places the HIGHEST amount they are willing to pay, then Listia will continue to raise their bid each time someone outbids them, until they reach their max bid. This applies to everyone, and isn't unfair in any way. It just means that if you bid 25,000 but no one else bids higher than 5,000, you'll win the item for 5,050 rather than having to spend the whole 25,000 that you were willing to bid. Long winded, but I hope this helps. Nice auction by the way!

Barbara there is no auto bidding! Someone who bid, bid with the maximum amount they would pay for it! And if you bid higher than that then you become the highest bidder!

unfortunately our government has nothing to do with where a business owner manufactures their parts or product. I hold the business owner responsible for taking jobs out of country. I understand why, just wish it wasn't so. as consumers, its up to us to buy only "made in the USA" products. that's the only way the manufacturing sector will listen.

You are so right, just wish the Gov. would stop letting them ship them here. And yes I do try to find things made in the USA only to buy, sadly there isn't much. I am a wood artist and my items don't even sell. From time to time I list an item on here. I have 2 items on Listia now. :)

I know, it is horrible that our country would be humanitarians and allow things from other countries (Even though they do in fact celebrate our own country) to come in and be purchased. What are they thinking. Other people don't have to eat. Just us. God bless America, and not those other places.

After 9-11 my city council went looking for flags and the only requirement was that they had to be made in the USA. Dozens of people got involved and we never a found a single one. They were all made in Mexico or China. We ended up printing flags in a full page ad in the newspaper for our citizens to tape in windows. They didn't last very long but it was the best we could do at the time. I love this auction!!!

Oh and by the way the flag is a 3ft x 5ft. inches are never accurate as each one is cut and sewn different. Just an FYI!

Most US flags are still made in America, definitely not Mexico, LOL... I know I work in a Flag Store as a manager. We carry flags from the oldest US distributor out of NY! You are buying the cheapest printed flags if you have one that was made anywhere else and they're without the quality of the US made one's. Your flag is made of cotton and yes it's old. Like seeing people share our Old Glory with others. Great auction! Fanned!

You are right on one thing, but the 48 stars, meaning the last 2 state didn't become states in the 50's. This tell me how old this is. There are some flags out there now new with sewn on stars. They were both made in the 50's like today. Thank you for stopping by my friend.

Before nine eleven you'd be hard pressed to find an American flag. China seems to make a lot of them. This one looks like a genuine and authentic American artifact to me. Definitely watching here (8
