Description

The listing, Commemorative Coin; Canada; 2 dollar; 2014; ‘Wait for Me Daddy’; Brilliant Uncirculated has ended.

Thank you for your browsing.

It is perhaps the most famous photograph taken in Canada during the Second World War: a five-year-old boy breaks away from his mother's grasp to run after his father as he marches off to war. Taken in New Westminster, B.C. in the fall of 1940, "Wait for Me, Daddy" continues to resonate as a snapshot of the war's impact on Canadians and the personal sacrifices they made.

The winner of this auction will receive one (1) new, packaged 2014 Canadian 2-dollar ‘Wait for Me Daddy’ coin separated from the Royal Canadian Mint’s “Wait for Me Daddy 5-pack” (http://www.mint.ca/store/coins/wait-for-me-daddy-coin-pack-2014-prod2210026#.VFrJbGfi92A).

The metal composition of the outer ring is nickel-plated steel and the inner ring brass-plated aluminium bronze; diameter: 28mm; weight: 6.92 grams.

PLEASE NOTE - This coin is in brilliant uncirculated condition, still in mint sealed packet, you will receive the exact coin show in the photographs. Coin easel NOT included.

Thank you for browsing and your kind words. :-) I've also got a auction that includes the Official First Day Cover, along with the coin, if you happen to be interested.

Yeah. I just saw that one. I'll watch both, but as far as my budget is concerned, this one will probably go for less.

LOL - I have to be honest and admit, with few exceptions, I didn't know about them either...until I started Treasure Hunting for Listia. :-)

Thank you for browsing and you kind words. Actually it is worth $2.00 Canadian....for whatever that's worth in your local currency. :-)

The one great thing about the Royal Canadian Mint is that incorporate some incredible history into their coinage and, since Canada post is a 'sister' crown corporation, many times both issue products that compliment each other very well.

I'll be honest, I wasn't aware of the picture - or the story behind it - until I came across the coins. ;-)
