76.79 Grams on this piece. So on all weighted pieces are at 90% weighted and 10% silver. So at this piece you have 7.7 grams = to $3.79 in silver. Still very nice piece

Roncolegrove, you are completely and utterly mistaken, you have absolutely no way of knowing the weight of the silver versus the actual material used to weight the item, most silverware that has a base will have a weight to balance the item so it is not top heavy, I really dislike people making comments that are not fact, I have been in the Jewelry and Antiques business for 30+ years and comments like yours are usually intended to keep the credits low. I can sincerely vouch that this is indeed an exceptional piece and the value of it as an Antique would by far exceed the silver value even at 76 grams. You would easily pay over $100 for this in an Antique store.

roncolegrove 7, I can't believe you would post a snide remark like this. Besides your truly wrong in your assumption. Just check out Silver auctions anywhere on the web. This beauty will bring much more than your amount. Truly vintage and its only the base which is weighted. People see the history of a piece. Why didn't you just bypass this auction and look elsewhere?

Bless you so much TimeTraveler2040 for that perfect comment. They were so out of bounds here. I dislike slammers and there is too many lately! This lovely piece is perfect, and yes, sterling silver !! I still have my Grandmothers Sterling Gravy boat with the weighted base. It was appraised at $90..even with all the tarnish on it. Oh sweetie, thank you for the comments! Blessings & Joy always to you~~

Thank you all my Friend s Evelyn , Joe & my Nancy :) for your references about his comment , It usually takes alot to get me mad but when something does I may not have put in a Lady like demeamor , my sweet Nancy has witnessed that on rare occasions when as my friend Joe said there is always a Detract that comes along & my Sweet Nancy saw me lose my manners , which I try so hard not to do , my dear friend Evelyn knows me also & she is also educated in this type of item . He for sure has not done his study's saying this has only 7.7 grams of Sterling ! as Evelynn said these are all weighted or back in the day they would collapse under the pressure of liquid or any food substance or condiment ,,GGRRRR >Lion Queen trying to excape<<< >smiles<< Thank you all as I just signed in to answer comments , he is blocked now . Hugs for Nancy , Evelynn & Joe .....have to go calm down

This is not solid sterling,is it?
Nov 21st, 2014 at 8:53:10 AM PST by

Yes , except inside the base is weighted . In all pieces like this the base will be weighted inside or back when people used these it would not standup to hold whatever liquid such as cream , gravy , etc...hope this helped your question :)
