pnm, I wonder if the buyers can trace the DNA germs back to the previous owner? There might be a crime involved in their mysterious disappearance. ;)

Colonel Mustard in the Library with the Salt Shaker!!
That would explain why it's dented....but who was the victim?!?

lol, that's what I'm thinking, Either way, the victim was some upper crust socialite in Manhattan. Actually, I'll bet it was a man, My guess is his wife put arsenic in the pepper. ;) We should go on Forensic Files! Plus I see you like polishing silver as much as I do. Good thing, you'd have washed away all the evidence!

Well they wanted to be like the COOL dogs in those famous painting of "Dogs Playing Pool" & "Dogs Playing Poker" but I wouldn't let them.
Couldn't have them walking around smelling like cigar smoke and booze all the time....what would people think?!

Great Auction :) These are awesome!!~~ I will try to save up to Bid, we have a house built in 1754 its a Dutch house, and these would be perfect, Don't let anyone melt them, shame to do that to a great historical treasure *Germs and all * hehe

There are many many different styles of Duchin salt and pepper shakers. Unless you have torn apart this exact style, removed the glass and weighed them, you can keep your 2 cents to yourself.

lol, I call it Patina too. I love antique germs but I'm thinking "historical DNA' might be more intriguing, Who knows they could get it tested and find they have a REAL Napolean on their hands, See how the bids have already gone up since we've started to re-package this item? These could have been touched by Gatsby! Its both the era and the place,

What a nice set , you always have wonderful Auction items , I so love humor :)
Never does it amaze me what rude people say , as I see one already about the weight , my last auction I had a Sterling creamer which was weighted as in the olden days when only the rich owned these items , they had to be weighted as if not they would collapse under the weight of fluid or solidity , mine weighed 70+grams & he tried to tell me the silver would only be 7+ grams ...oh my some people just cat rest unless their causing conflict in any way they can , ..I am so glad I am not that miserable ........You Have Great Auctions all the time !!!

Thank you so very much Pam ♥ You're so sweet.
I am actually watching all your auctions as well. LOVE that aquamarine ring!
It never fails does it? Someone always has to point out flaws, argue about value or just be plain rude.
I had over 5 hundred of members blocked at one point last year. I decided on New Year's Day to unblock ALL & start anew. No sooner that I unblocked but some of the SAME members had to come around with asinine rude comments. LOL Some people are only happy when they are complaining ♥

Can someone help me what is digital delivery
Dec 6th, 2014 at 8:32:20 PM PST by
Original
Digital delivery is an item that is sent via email. Ultraviolet movie codes, Coke Rewards Points, Online Gift Card Codes etc.
Example: A "bracelet" can not be listed as 'digital delivery'. It needs to be "free shipping", "flat rate shipping fee", or "winner pays exact shipping".
A code for an ecard for amazon.com would be listed as "Digital delivery" and the seller would send via email.

Good Luck & Welcome to Listia!

I know what you mean! It seems a shame to use them for melt value, but some people will want to know. I love the pair I have, but they are a little bit different, so I am keeping my eye on these! :)

OK, thanks! I had purchased another similar pair, and when I unscrewed the tops, they were glass lined which made up most of the weight. :)
Nov 23rd, 2014 at 9:31:32 AM PST by

Ok, I finally got the lids off (they were reaaly tightened on there) and they ARE glass lined. So the glass is the "weight" in them? Not sure. I have never torn apart a set of salt and pepper shakers before for silver melt. Sorry for the confusion.
