The listing, Unique and Old Brass Medallion Necklace Pendant Very COOL WHAT IS IT?? Estate Find has ended.
I found this at a estate sale a while ago. I think it is made of brass it looks very old I noticed this guy has some snakes around him maybe extra hands?? I am very curious about its origins. There is a quarter in the photo for scale. Thanks so much for looking!!
Its from india the knife is a gurkkha and originated in the 1600's its solid brass, possibly from the hindu gods buddha with the joga position of lotus flower,i deal in antiquities,i believe its late turn of the century from patina on it no earlier then 1900
Wow that old cool!! I actually left the store because I got distracted and it was in the Jewelry case got home and said dam... went back and snatched him up lol
Vishnuw god or shiva? courgous from handling deadly cobra the third eye or shokkra for the eternity of temperence, observe many hands to distract the enemy
So interesting...Shiva is usually depicted with a trident and/or axe when he has a weapon. Also, appears to be seated in a high-backed chair. Has the top-knot and perhaps a headband type diadem. I really don't think it's the Buddha, though, I've never seen Shiva with a prominent belly. I'm going to be watching this, especially the comments. I hope someone can ID this one.
This is definitely NOT Buddah! Buddah wore no clothes, except a plain robe that might have covered his shoulders and hung by his sides. He also had a huge round belly! This is more on the lines of a Hindu god, with the cobras that he holds in tow of his many arms, as well as the third eye in the middle of his forehead. I believe this is a Hindu god from India. The details are most amazing!
I also noticed that he has the third eye in the middle of his forehead, if that helps any with the identification of this god, which I agree is from one of the religions of India. This is an awesome piece and the details are just amazing! FW&B
