The listing, Antique Pressed Wood Box~~"Rose" ~~Beautiful Piece has ended.

this auction is for an antique pressed wood box. As you can see this is showing its age. The name across the top is Rose, and has designs on five of the surfaces. There are watermarks in the inside. The wood pressing is beautiful. There is a name on the brass hinge pieces but I cannot read the whole thing. There is a small nail missing from one of the hinge pieces. The lid is bowed and doesn't meet the front panel. This would look wonderful set on a shelf with other antiques it is a work to be admired. The bed has the same design on the back side of the lid as well as the front side. This is an amazing box. There are other places of wear please look at all the pictures.
This comes from a smoke-free home.

I believe it actually says "hose" and was made to store hosiery. I've seen one just like it on etsy. Very pretty - keeping eyes on this for sure. :)

LOL! You are super funny! Great sense of humor about it - I thought it said Rose at first too, I even started searching online for " rose" boxes. You are a great person to laugh at yourself...so many people get mad when someone says they might be wrong about something. This is a gorgeous item regardless of what it says or what it's purpose is, and I am beyond thrilled that I found this and you - it's people like you that make Listia worthwhile. I was curious of the name on the hinge so I went on eBay and saw a box made by the same company! That box says "Wizard L.F. Grammes & Son". Hope that helps...here is the auction....
