This Stuff is Free Too:
Up for auction are these 2 old silver goblets. They are a little over 7 1/2" tall and over 3 1/2" wide at the top rim.
They are badly tarnished as you can see in the photos BUT it is ONLY tarish. The surface is completely smooth with NO pitting. I polished them up a long time ago and the were beautiful, smooth, and shiny. They still feel very smooth and you can not feel any of the tarnish with finger or nail. No snagging with a cotton ball either. I'm out of silver polish and I just want to get rid of the silver that I have so I don't have to pack any of it when I move.
These both weigh about a half a pound each. You can see in the photo that the combined weight on my postal scale is 1 pound and 8/10 of an ounce.
Both are marked on the bottom (with two different marks). I took them to a jewelry store and they said they didn't recognize the hallmarks and they are probably very old and foreign. They also said they appeared to be real solid silver. They couldn't tell the purity of the silver without taking a sample so I can't say they are sterling silver, but they are NOT plated.
I don't know the age of them either, but they appear to be very very old. I've had them for several years myself and I bought them from a second hand thrift store. They could be mideval or they could be mid 1990s. I wish I knew, but then I might not want to part with them!
They have the same type of stems and are the same size but there are subtle differences in angles at the bottoms when viewed from underneath. Both set flat and neither are bent in any way. The pictures make them look a little bit warped but they are NOT.
These are being sold "as is". I have nothing in writing from the jewelry store and I'm not willing to pay for the testing nor willing to let them be damaged to find out the purity of the silver. No refunds or returns. I want credits, not hassles! Bid on them for what they are..beautiful old heavy silver goblets with no documentation.

EPNS stands for "Electro Plated Nickel Silver". Nickel Silver (sometimes stainless steel) is the base metal onto which silver is plated. Despite its name, nickel silver contains no silver at all, but is an alloy of nickel, zinc & copper. A layer of pure silver is deposited electrolytically on the base metal to give a silver finish.
Picture #6 right center of base apperes to be showing a base metal looks like copper this is common metal to plate...
