Old Chinese inside painted vase.. Same reverse inside painting process as the Chinese snuff bottles have been listing.

This is great for heating rice. This is how the rice was cooked in the old culture of China in the 1st dynasty. They would heat the rice dry in the vase, then add water and it the hot rice and cool water would react in such a way that the rice would form air pockets in each individual piece of rice. Next they would empty the vase into a wok and cook it with vegetables and beef or fish, the formed air pockets of the rice would allow for the beef or fish and vegetable flavors to enter the rice and create a flavorful rice. I was in China this past summer and I had a chance to have several dishes for dinner this way

I can only guess it must be early 1900's .. I know it says on the bottle, but I do not read Chinese.. I am able to tell there is a date though, as well as the three charactors common for an artists signature shown right above the red seal.. That red seal tells which school or city in China that it was painted in.

I came by this from a collector of Chinese snuff bottles. I bought this along with a couple of snuff bottles at the same time from him. He could only guess as well about an aproxomate date of early 1900's..

It's almost funny that so many collectors of Chinese snuff bottles can not read a lick of Chinese !

No.. It is not porcelain.. It is glass.. Painted on the inside just like the snuff bottles I have been listing. The only difference is that the artist used this vase instead of a snuff bottle.
