This is my first ever Artist Trading Card! This is #1 in the ACEO edition of Creature Cards.
This card is the standard regulation size of 2.5" x 3.5". It is done in graphite on Smooth Bristol Paper 100lb. My creature cards are made the day they are posted.
My goal is to spread art around the globe and what better place then here, at what better price then free! I will attempt to make and post a new card every day for the whole year!
I encourage the winning bidder to give the creature a name if they like :) (and any other information about the character they choose)
Thanks for looking! I appreciate your comments and your time. I always fan back :)
Here information about Artist Trading Cards from Strathmore:
What are Artist Trading Cards?
Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) are miniature pieces of art that are traded around the world. Artists create, trade, and collect art at organized "swap" events, either in person or online. It is a great way to meet other artist and share your fork. The only official rule for ATCs is the size: 2.5" x 3.5"
How did the movement start?
In 1997, M. Vanci Stirnemann, a Swiss Artist, created 1200 cards by hand as part of an exhibit. On the last day he invited others to create their own cards and trade with him during the closing reception. After that , the movement took off as other artists organized major "swap" events! Today, there are ATC swaps in almost ever major city around the world. There are also many online swaps.
How do I create ATC's?
Most swaps are open to any media, materials or techniques as long as the card fits into a standard trading card sleeve. Art can be original, limited edition or series. Artists should include the following information on the back of the card: name, contact information, title of piece, and number if it is part of an edition or series. ATCs are traded not sold. However, there are some artists who choose to sell cards. Cards that are sold are called Art Card Editions or Originals.

I'm an artist, too, and I just realized what a great place this could be for ATC fans. I will have to post some, too. I'm bidding!!!

It's always a pleasure to meet a fellow artist! I would love to see more of us using this great resource as a point of exchange, bringing art to more and more people. I have really enjoyed this entire process. Thanks for your bids! Let me know when you get some cards posted I'd love to check them out!

That is an amazingly good drawing. I love it! And thank you for the explanation of these types of cards. I have seen them elsewhere on the web but I didn't know there was a large community of collectors. So I assume ACEO stands for Art Card Edition Original?

Right. I'm not sure if this function of listing it here for "free" counts as selling it so I put both acronyms in the list name to be safe :) I really appreciate your generous compliment and I'm glad you like the card! Good luck!

Thanks for your response and if/when I'm not working full-time I will post some of my ATCs here, too. I think if it's free it counts....and not as a sell. I'm watching this one.

Can you do a custom-made creature card, if we tell you the subject matter? I've always envisioned my miniature parrot drawn in a creative and abstract way.

So is this like a group of people that do this or? where can I find other trading cards??

JayQuinn

I've seen a number of them on Ebay. There are groups on Facebook as well that get together to trade them. I just learned about them very recently and don't personally know any other artists that are doing them, but it seems I am behind the curve on the fad. Just google it and I'm sure you will find a lot more information. Good luck!
