Description

The listing, HP Laptop (Model ZE4220) ** Works but needs a Backlight ** has ended.

Up for grabs is a good working and nice looking HP: ZE4220. The only problem is that it needs a new light put into the screen. When you turn the unit on, you can barely see anything. As you can see in the first picture, I have an external monitor hooked up and due to the flash of the camera, it shows the actual image on the laptop as well, so the screen itself does work.

Just to clarify: Under the screen it says it is a ZE4220 Series, but there is another sticker that identifies it as a ZE4220. From what I saw online, it was manufactured around 2003.

This unit has been taken good care of and is clean!

The third picture shows the specs which are as follows:
Intel Celeron CPU 1.70 GHz
256 MB Ram / 192 MB after Video integration(Upgradeable to 1GB, but I do not know if it is SD or DDR. I am assuming it is SD)
64MB Radeon IGB 340M Integrated Video
27.9 GB HD
DVD-Rom/CDRW
2 USB in the back
15" Monitor / 1024 x 768
56k Modem
Ethernet (I do not however see a wireless switch. From what I am seeing online, it is possible to hook up an external wireless card though)
XP-Home Edition (HD was wiped, redone and all drivers installed, updated last year with Service Pack 3. There are no conflicts as you can see in the fourth picture. There are no recovery disks)
Battery (I just got done letting it charge and it went up to 78%, but still keeps popping up a balloon that says "Critical Battery")
AC Adapter (Seems to be working fine)

Yes the monitor light bar can be replaced & if you shop around it'll cost around $30 to replace.

hmmmm why is the hard drive such an odd number of rom?

I don't know why they make some HDs odd like that, but we've run across them like that before. By all accounts, it is considered to be a 30GB ... hope that helps!

the best way to repair that would be to get a used backlight assembly from ebay those bulbs are reall tricky to replace also i would try replacing the inverter first it lights the bulb and they are cheap

If there is an image, but it's dark it may be the ccfl (lightbar) but it is much more likely to be the lcd inverter. The inverter can be purchased online generally for under $20.

Thank you for the input! Yes, there is an image, but you can barely see it. You can see it pretty good in the picture because the flash illuminated it.

fan and watching,,,,,,,,i dont see how u can keep credits,i dont know how that works, but im sure listia gives back credits,,,,,,,to the right party,,,just never see how this can be done,at all,

Simple, if the winner does not contact the seller, or they don't have a verified address, per Listia rules the seller has the right to re-list the item and keep the credits. So no, in some circumstances, Listia does not refund credits.
