measurements are 11" tall 10" wide, It is big enough for regular use, i wouldn't say to go grocery shopping as it wouldn't hold that much it doesn't open very far either but it could be used for maybe a purse although there are no pockets on the inside. It could be used for maybe a few smaller books from a trip to the library. The possibilities are endless. It doesn't say what material it is made of but does say not washable, it kind of feels like that felt stuff. Hope this helps :)
