We experienced bidders don't bid until the last minute. It keeps the price down. Rest assured that the credits will go way up in the last few minutes.

Shill bidding amongst friends is happening. It's hard to prove and easy to do. Check similar items and make sure that the final prices are in line with what you want.

Trying to be helpful here. You are prematurely discouraged with the bids. Believe me, you won't get the bulk of your credits until the last few SECONDS of your auction. If bidders bid now, they are driving up the price. The experienced bidders watch and wait. At the last moment, the war begins.

I don't take my credit accumulation seriously until my auctions end. I'm rarely disappointed. Check on how many people are WATCHING rather than bidding. At present, you have 48 potential bidders. I am one of them. Seriously monitor your auction in the last hour. Slowly but surely, people will start bidding. Then Imagine 48 or more people, all trying to bid in the last few seconds. You don't have any worries.

My photo is of a Shinese puppy I sold. I have a house full of regulars, though. I am a breeder. Thanks for the compliment

It looks like you have a little more feedback to back you. That is SUPER helpful. Also, you are responding to comments and questions. Trust me. When this auction ends, you will wonder why you worried.

You can't imagine how much your feedback will help. Most users make the mistake of listing a high end item as their first. Bids are poorer than usual because of lack of trust. Fortunately, you seemed to time your auctions right.

I am one of the regulars in this category and there are several other regulars. We monitor this category daily. We can tell who is scamming and who is not.

Listia keeps a good eye on this category, too. They probably throw off more suspicious laptop ads than those currently listed.

If I lose a MAC (highly probable), which ends tonite, I will bid on your laptop tomorrow.

The MAC I will be bidding on (in the last few seconds) is already quite high. I look for it to surpass the number of credits I have before I even bid. Unfortunately, inexperienced bidders drive the price up too early. I have a feeling I'll be bidding on yours.

Mods are moderators. If someone flags your auction, the moderators take a look at your ad. The flag is the same as a complaint and the moderators decide whether or not to post suggestions to you. If you don't follow their advice, they can suspend your ad. The mods are very prompt in this category because of the plethora of scammers here. You don't have that problem. If you choose to peruse the laptop category, you will see some posts by mods. There are plenty of suspicious laptop ads.

I am not a mod. If I were asked to be one, I would refuse. I think that those who auction their items should not double as a mod. That's a conflict of interest.

I've been on this site since its beginning, three years ago. It started as a nightmare and ended up a glorious dream.

RE: Sketchy Listings

It is amazing how few people have common sense. Despite suspicious ads, people still bid. Some winners send money to the scammers to cover shipping.

The scammers usually have zero feedback, won't specify location, won't post a pic or will post a photo from another site, and write one-liners as descriptions.

RE: Listia Nightmare ~

When Listia first started, it was plagued by crooked Romanians. Listia didn't want to suspend anyone at that time because they were trying to build clientele. There were domestic bidders as well but they were as unreliable as the Romanians.

If I received 7 credits for an item, I considered it a victory. I charged for shipping at the time. Winners wouldn't pay shipping and I'd have to relist. I wouldn't leave neg feedback for fear I'd receive it in return.

I took about a three-month break from Listia because of the unreliable bidders and lack of controls. I voiced my concern.

When I returned, it looked like another site. It had grown and improved greatly. I complimented them and they started asking for advice (due to my eBay experiences). They sent me a couple of Listia t-shirts for my 'services.'

Since then, Listia has grown and the personal contact is over. My last correspondence asked them to chunk all the kids on the site. Other than that, I am happy.
