The figures are on base which is the magnet part. The minifigures assemble and detach from the base like normal Lego minifigures - these details are all explained in the auction description.

Lego makes these magnet sets for most of their popular themes and since the Toy Story line is retired, that could be why you haven't seen this before. I also have the Lego Prince of Persia minifigure magnet set listed as a separate auction. Good luck :-)
