Description

The listing, Organic Heirloom Sugar Pie Pumpkin Seeds has ended.

30 Organic Heirloom Small Sugar Pie Pumpkin Seeds (Sometimes called New England Pie Pumpkin).

The long time favorite and standard for pies. None grows any sweeter. Fruits small, 5-8 lbs; round, flattened at the ends and a good keeper. Skin is deep orange, smooth but plainly ribbed. Flesh is thick, deep yellow, fine grained and has a deliciously sugar flavor. A single plant yields lots of pumpkins. (95 days)

Heirloom pumpkins have a richer color with more depth of flavor than what most people are used to from store bought pumpkins.

The yellow or orange flesh is cooked as a sweet vegetable or enjoyed as a soup. Diced pumpkin may be sprinkled with cheese and olive oil and grilled in a hot oven. Pumpkin is also used as a sweet pie filling or as holiday decorations.

Seeds are from the garden this 2010 season.

Hiya Sageblossom, When do you plant your pumpkin seed in Arizona? I plant mine in late Spring here in southern California. Just wondering.. :O)

We can get cold snaps in March, so April is safer, unless I cover the seedlings in bad weather. But by the end of May it will be 100 degrees, so I want them established by then.

Will they like Virginia soil and climate?

I believe so. It looks like they grow lots of pumpkins in Virginia. It takes about 100-115 days for these pumpkins to mature, so if you have a long enough warm season or your start them early indoors, you should be OK.
