Check out the front cover and the back cover for all the different boxes you can make. Once you have learned these stitches the sky is the limit to what you can make.

Oh wow! I haven't seen one of these in a long time. My mother used to collect all the crochet ones. Plastic canvas, that is totally something I would be into learning.
