It costs points to start above 499. You just need to enter the start bid when you first list it.

You enter it when you list your auction. There's a box on the left that says "Advanced Auction Options" You click on that box and it opens a screen where you can start your bid at whatever amount you want. But you have to earn your wings first before you can do it.
I don't think you even have that box visible until you earn your wings. Someone either agree with me or correct me if I'm wrong! lol

I just checked and you have your seller wings so you can do
that on your next auction or any auction that you want.
