Description

The listing, BRASS and ABALONE SHELL Container and Candle Holder has ended.

This is a three piece brass container and candle holder. Inside the container is about an inch and a half deep and three and a half inches across. The total with a cross is 5 inches The top of the container has inlaid abalone shell. There is a band of abalone shell about three quarter inches high around the side of the container. The top of the lid has two bands of abalone shell around it. In the center on top of the lid stands a quarter inch round by inch and a half high brass stem with a one inch deep by 1 inch across brass candle holder. The container sits on a pedestal made of brass that consists of three elephants joined together holding their trunks up high the base of the container sits on the elephants ears and is held in place by their trunks. The overall height is about seven and a half inches. There are no names or numbers anywhere that I can see. This is a very unique and nice looking cantainer.

I also find that the three elephants that are connected to make up the pedestal are kind of interesting also in the way that there ears and trunks are used to secure the container. Many things could have been used to make up the pedestal i just find it interesting that elephants were used for this type of item anyway it will definitely catch your eye thanks for your comment.

I liked the suggestion made earlier about the incense sensor. The first thing I thought of was for communion service in a church. What you call a candle holder, could possibly be used to hold wine to dip bread into? No matter what it is, it certainly is beautiful and unusual. I will watch and fan. Great auction!
