I always wanted outrageously curly hair but was stuck with stick straight, so I never realized how hard it is to care for curly hair--how incredibly fragile it is.

Especially when you are young the curls are super fragile, I remember all that my mother could do to keep it from going super crazy was to put it up in a braid immediately after she would wash it and that is what I had till I was about 12 when I got it chemically straightened for the first time. I only had that done maybe 3 times total and that was it and now it is much easier to control but I still have my curls. I just know how to take care of them now and they aren't as delicate.
