The August swap will be a greeting card swap. I am still working on a few specifics, but I do know that one gift from listia will be won for your swapper and it has to be something that reflects friendship or along those lines. Everyone will post the cards that they have received and at the end of the week we will vote on who received the most creative, funny, etc. I am thinking that we will ask for one or two cards per week. Small tokens of friendship are acceptable to be sent with the cards but we will not be focusing on large gifts. I am hoping to include poems, words of encouragement, etc. But do not fret, September we will be back the regularly scheduled swaps, lol.

I have only seen 1 post by my July swapper, so far I've sent her 3 packages and she only posted about the first one, this is my second month swapping and I'm really having fun picking items to send each time so it's alittle disappointing not knowing if my swapee enjoys them or not.

First, I want to appologize that August matchups are not out yet. I had a very trying last couple of days and really had to focus on how to handle that situation first.

Second, I want you all to hear from me that I have blocked JenJaredJoey and she is not allowed in the swaps until further notice. I try really hard to be understanding and give many chances. But I can only take so much and in this situation the line was crossed. I am sorry if this offends anyone. If you need more information you can PM me and I will share, but I really just want this to get behind me as I have been terribly hurt to the core because of this situation.

Thank you all for your understanding and patience with me.

I don't know if I will be able to get online again before the end of this weekend, so everyone play nice while I am still away, LOL.

I have to tell you all, I went to the mall today. They have amazing malls here in San Antonio. Anyway, I went to Sephora for the first time and I bought me a bottle of nail polish. It is their busted line. It is awesome! I know I get excited over some of the silliest things, lol.

Also, my poor puppy misses me so much. My daughter says he keeps staring out the window and barking, like he is calling me and trying to figure out why I have not come home yet. Poor little fella. I miss him too.

Ok, enough of my chatter. Miss you all, until later. :)

@Trayce, you're looking at what goes on during the swap. This is it. There are no contests, no shill bidding. We sometimes have themes, or "scavenger hunts" to see who can spend the least amount of credits on items in certain categories. We all shop for our secret swappies on Listia. We post links here to items we find on LIstia that we think we might like for ourselves. It is ok to post links to your items, but it is NOT ok to ask for others to bid on them. Everything we do is legit, and Listia-legal. Anything questionable has been discussed with Listia; what you see here has been approved.

SO...I guess our mole will go away empty handed. I can't really call them a mole, since being a mole implies that there is actually something to spy upon. Which, as you can see, there just isn't.

Ok ..my 6 year old niece was here for an hour or two today and wanted to hang out at the yard sale. After the first few buyers/browsers, my niece said something that made me chuckle:

I'll greet the customers and make them comfortable, then you move in for the sale.'

There is a God and he is good. Thank you all for your prayers. We are not loosing out house and tomorrow we are getting air conditioning.

I am truly blessed. The air conditioning people took pity on us and have worked out a situation for us. It has taken all week, but they will be putting in an old working unit tomorrow and letting us make payments and they are going to give us a deal when we have to get the full unit. It is a bandaid approach, but it is the best we can do right now and I feel so lucky. Again, thank you all for your prayers and good wishes!!!

Hello my name is Tawnya (but don't call me by name please) and I am a collector-oholic. I am 36, never married and have zero children. I operate a home based rescue for reptiles, birds and small 'exotics' I don't and have never driven a vehicle due to vision impairments. After being on my own as an adult, i moved back in with my mother. Due to the nondriving issue the compromises of lifestyle required to live with my mother were preferable to me over the compromises required when living on my own. We live more as general housemates and not family. I'm not an excitable person nor do I use alot of exclamation points (no offense to anyone intended, just describing myself) I don't have an 'official' job. I freelance some pet care articles (rarely other topics) for newsletters, etc.and am working on learning better writing skills to gain a wider market. In short I'm usually caring for an animal, writing or puttering around the house.

This is not directed at anyone here, but here's a pet peeve: when I get a PM titled "Fanned You" and inside, all it says is "Fan me back" A demand. NOT a question, or even a polite word or 2. What on earth would make you think that I would just run off & fan you after reading that? And hello, I don't LIKE baseball cards. In fact, I HATE slogging through pages and pages of baseball cards while browsing through collectibles! So WHY would I fan you? hmmmm?

sorry, I just had to get that off my chest and out in the open lol

Annette, I have pics of things such as that. :) Living in the country gives me lots of good shots. And, when taking pics of people, I prefer candid shots. I like catching people as they are naturally. I don't really care for "posed for" pictures. They just seem too... unnatural.

Just because you talk to people on-line regularly does not mean "you know" them.
The "spy" or "mole" could be your friend on here. It amazes me how people trust others whom they only know from on-line. I know things have been said to me in private emails that I do not believe. I trust my gut more-than anything.
If your gut tells you something, you should listen but not jump to conclusions.

I am soooooooooo excited. I am working on a site where all the swap forms and info can be kept so that we do not have to keep putting that information in the chatterbox. Also it will provide a different way to submit update forms and questions. It is still in it's infancy, but that is what I am going to be working on during August. Also, if people scan or take pictures of their cards for August, I will be able to post them too.

Me, beaming (and it is not just the sweat dripping down my face). I am truly excited about this solution. Big Grin!!!!!

@JenJaredJoey, I was thinking the same thing, I was going to request a child as my swapper, because I have had adults the last 2 swaps and I was going to sign up my Joe Michael since his b-day is 8/17. S above it says small gifts are cool(I really wanted to send my future swapper a gift bag from Joe Michael's b-day party since I tend to go over board on favors...lol) So stickers would be acceptable. I mean it is ment in a friendly way. Greeting cards are great, Sometimes it's just nice to get something and think "hey with all that is going on in the world, My Listia Buddy took time outta their life to do this for me" Wonderful Idea, Tweety!! The only thing is, like instead of a "wishlist" can we turn in like a "This is what's goin' on in my life list" so that we will know what kind of cards to look for?? Yay!! Super excited...lol... Just realized, I must look like I have a.d.d with all the exclaimation marks I always leave...lol. Nope Just always happy, Like a Glass half full (just drink whatever's in the glass) type of girl. Would love to know what everyone else is: half empty or full?? Let's all forget about moles and spys and drama and just be happy that the world is spinnin' and we have good friends here on Listia that we can laugh with, joke with, and try to draw pictures of Kermit the Frog with...lol. I am a very Non-drama type person, I say what I mean and Mean what i say, that's just how I roll...lol. So Yup The glass is 1/2 Full and today Thanks to My SS My Cup Runneth Over, Thanks Again Swap Buddy!!

I am actually working on the sign up information. There will be a spot to list things about yourself, family, etc. Just not a full out wishlist. Kinda want this to be more about the sender letting the receiver know a little more about them. :)

I hope that makes sense. I really think it will be a fun change and it is only for a month, lol.
