so installing this program it will not ask for a key code but install without it? I have gotten ones in the past that say I don't need one and then get it and find out that I have to BUY the keycode.
You can but it is useless. If you use the same key and attempt to register it invalidates the key. Making any computer it is installed on invalidated (as long as it is connected to the web). Microsoft will then classify it as a non-genuine version of Windows. If this happens it is unusable after 30 days and would have to be reinstalled, completely reformatting your hard drive. Here is a link that explains it a bit. http://superuser.com/questions/445766/can-i-use-the-same-oem-windows-7-key-on-two-computers-in-my-house. And to the seller, oem copies are only suppose to be used if you are building your own computer or a company that builds and sells pc's. If you builder one for someone else using this copy originally, the disc should have stayed with the pc as this is the only option in most cases for a system restore or reinstall.
And just to clarify a little more when you first install and run windows it is considered non-genuine until you register. So a reinstall would still have to be done every 30 days. This is why Microsoft makes licensing packages if you want to install on more than one pc.
All this is true Josh, but most computers these days do not require a restore disc to do a system restore. This is still an excellent tool for PC builders to test pc's on how well it will run Windows 7. If the PC is sold, the buyer will indeed need to purchase a Windows 7 COA before the 30 days are up...unless they never connect it to the Web which isn't very likely lol.
