Lovely Antique Evening Bag with Dance Strap

This lovely little clutch style bag is covered with Pink Flowers and Green Leaves all done in 3 dimensional metallic thread giving a brocade appearance. Each flower and leaf is outlined in metallic cording. The centers of the Flowers are done in the same metallic thread and cord for a realistic effect. A geometric design, also in green, outlines the design of an envelope closure and suggests the flap opening of the bag. The back 'Dance Strap' repeats the floral motif.

The purse is covered in a metallic gold tone fabric. It is lined with a black shiny fabric that I don't know. Possibly silk, but it seems sturdier. I suppose it could be a heavy silk.

The bag measures 7 3/4 inches wide and 5 inches deep. It is damaged from age (see photos). It is frayed along the back bottom edge and front. I did not trim threads or attempt to clean this bag.

The flowered front flap lifts up to reveal the black interior. There is a mirror pocket and one small side pocket and of course the larger main section of the purse. Considering age I would give it an average rating. Even so it is lovely and also could make a great pattern for another beautiful bag.
