You need to melt some of that snow then

You can melt the snow to wash dishes, flush toilets, take a bath, water plants, and pets, and you can melt it to cook and drink if you have a way to find clean snow. Do you have a stream near by?

Yes, we have been doing all that ,Lol! For the last 5 weeks, thanks. It's getting OLD!! Haha. I've been filling drinking water at my friends , she has city water . We do through about 10 bottles a day! (I'm not cooking or drinking snow or unflitered water. That radioactive stuff could be in the snow from Japan for all I know!! But right now, it's a bit more complicated. The snow has hardened so it's more like ice! (Hard to chisel it out!! Lol!) But yet it's not quite warm enough to melt it all so I can get into the basement! Really a big pain!!

I remember one winter as a kid we were with out lights and water for over a month we had to carry water from the gin about two mile away in five gallon buckets thank god we had those. We cooked on gas so we heated the house with the stove and oven. There was eight of us children and our parents and my parents demanded we continue our normal routine of meals and baths. We washed clothes by hand on a rub board and a old ringer washer we had in the shed. We already had a clothes line anyway so life was not to bad. Oil lamps but we didn't care. Life was simpler.
