The listing, 183 year old news paper The New York Herald - dated January 24, 1848 - Free Shipping! has ended.
Step back in time more than a century and a half by reading this 1832 edition of The National Intelligence from our nation's Capitol. This is the entire newspaper not just clippings. It is 4 pages long on two sheets of 6 columns of tiny print. This was the typical style of that era.
Newspapers printed after 1799 and prior to 1860 are considered "Antebellum Papers" and were printed on naturally acid free "rag linen" paper so they held up much better than our newspapers of today. There are no illustrations but that is also typical of Antebellum papers since illustrations didn't become popular until several decades after this paper was printed.
This one is only slightly yellowed. It has been folded. It has been stored out of sunlight. There are no missing pieces and all editorial is present. The edges are not perfect but still in good condition for its age.
This is a large paper measuring 24" by 18".
It had lots of political content.
There are also classified ads, advertisements with prices, and articles.
It has "Dr Parsons" written on it. It might be fun for the new owner to research the DC area to learn more about the doctor. It also has "11" written on it.
The writing is more than likely as old as the paper itself and doesn't change the condition.
This paper is in good condition. There IS some damage. At some point during its long life it was exposed to moisture. You can see the water mark. There is also a stain in the upper right corner. You can see it in the photos. I tried to close up on it from both sides of the page.
Bidding starts at zero and shipping is FREE! It will be shipped securely with tracking and insurance. It has been folded in the past and it will be shipped that way without causing a change in condition. This is NOT a reprint or reproduction. This is an original newspaper, guaranteed.
The last pic was taken under fluorescent light and turned out awful. I just wanted to show what it looked like folded.
