Description

The listing, Warmest Crochet Slippers Ever! has ended.

These crocheted slippers are very thick, double soled, super warm, comfortable and feature the popular "Crocodile Stitch" cuffs! I will make a pair specially for you! I live in the mountains outside of a small town so, unfortunately, not every specialty color is available to me. Otherwise though, if Red Heart makes it, the color choice is yours! I only make adult sizes at this time. I will need to know your shoe size.
If you see a pair in the pics that you like & it is in your size, most of these are ready to ship immediately after this auction ends. If not, it will take me up to a week after you tell me your size & color choices to make them & ship. If this is not acceptable to you, please do not bid.
The sizes for the slippers shown are:
Pics 1, 2. 3 & 4 - Size 9/10
Pics 5 & 6- Size 8/9
Pics 7 & 8 - Size 7/8
Pics 9 & 10 - Size 7/8
Pics 11 & 12 - Size 6/7
I have not yet measured the length of the soles but, I will.

One last biggie! If you are allergic to dogs, cats, birds or smoke - DO NOT BID!!!!
I try very hard to keep animal hair out of my projects but, inevitably, there will be a stray dog or cat hair crocheted in there somewhere. Invisible dander is always in a home with animals & I have no way to control that.
I have been smoking for 47 years so, not likely to ever quit. I am not proud of it but, neither am I ashamed. Every textile item that leaves this house is heavily "Febreezed" & given time outside to air before being packed for shipping. If anyone has suggestions for anything more I can do to improve this, I am always open to ideas!

They are gorgeous. I'm allergic to cats, dogs and cigarettes. I could just cry.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I can't imagine a life without my fur babies! When I was very young, I was allergic to animals. Apparently not too allergic though. I would take an allergy pill every morning & it worked for me. (We had a dog.) I used to cry because I couldn't hold her or hug her but, at least we could live in the same house together. My sweet mom would tell me " Don't worry, you'll grow out of it." Now, I don't know if it happened because I believed her or I really did grow out of it but, I've been blessed to always have pets in my life. Cigarettes, on the other hand, I wish I had been allergic to. Just think of how many more pet treats my already too fat babies would have!
Seriously though, I am sorry to hear that. I wish there were some way I could make it all go away for you. Thank you for stopping by! :)

Beautiful! Any chance you could make the ones in the first photo in a woman's eleven?

Ive been allergic to cat dander my whole life but its weird cause in a house with one cat, im fine as long as I dont pet it, in a house with two or more I instantly have an asthma attack! The slippers wouldnt hurt cause id launder them as soon as I got them. Just thought it was worth mentioning and wondering if your or charlie_sue's allergies were similar. Ive never known a person with cat allergies to respond the way that I do (meaning fine with one cat but suffocating with two)!

That's interesting. I hadn't thought about degrees of allergies before. I just figured you were allergic to something or you weren't. I was the same way with the dog. I couldn't pet or hug her but, I could be in the same house/room. I have no memory of if adding more animals to the mix made any difference. Hmm, something to think about. Charlie_sue didn't mention if there was any differences, only that she is allergic. Maybe if you're still around, you'd like to add your 2 cents. It's always nice to hear about different people's experiences.
Thinking in degrees, hopefully washing them will work for you but, I realize it won't work for everyone. No matter how careful I try to be, there is 99% chance a dog or cat hair will get crocheted in, The dander is uncontrollable. I vacuum, dust, wash bedding & blankets (theirs & ours) but, I know it's still there. I just can't see it. If there is something else I can do, I'd love to hear about it! I think it's probably pretty much a low amount though. My granddaughter is allergic to bird dander & they had to give up having birds but, she comes here all the time without having any reaction.

Thank you. I love that particular color combo myself. I have several skeins on hand. There are only two stores in my area that sell yarn. One is about 20 miles from home & the other about 35 miles. I have a tendency to stock up when I go. :)

I fine with hypo allergic dogs, as long as they are washed weekly. Other dogs I'm fine with as long as I don't touch them or I get hives. Cats, I can do a max of two in a household that gets cleaned everyday. I'd have to take medication everyday and even then I'll have allergy attacks flare up. I was a nanny for a family who loved me and would go through such lengths to keep me around lol God Bless them. My best friend has 7 cats lol and I have to kill all my senses with alcohol and and still the medication which I'm sure isn't very for me at all hahaha! And that was when he only had 5, since he's gotten the other two I haven't visited. I'm also allergic to birds. I'm the opposite of you Laurieshine, when I was younger I wasn't allergic to anything these are all adult allergies for me. It is terrible because I love animals, I'm even a vegetarian.

That's so unfair! Why is it that animal lovers have the worst allergic reactions? I was lucky. The pill worked for me & now I have no problem. I just can't imagine life without them. We need to find you a pet that won't drive your senses crazy! I take it the family you babysat for had at least one fur baby. It's so sad to find a job & people you love to work for & then have to give it all up. :( I hope you & your best friend can still see each other. I know animal hair sticks to me so, I do sometimes worry about maybe hurting someone just by getting near them. 7 is a lot of cats! We actually had twice that many at one time. We foster as well as adopt & I had taken in two pregnant cats. Although it's always hard to give up the fosters when the time comes, I get to love them for a while & make sure they get good homes. We had a really fun experience when we had all those babies at one time. When we would feed them the evening meal, there were 2 baby possums that came every night to join the kittens. It scared me to death the first time. I was sure they had come to hurt my babies but, nope. They would all eat out of two bowls & even play a little before the possums went back into the woods. It was so cool!
I don't have your strength though. As much as I love animals, I still eat meat. Another one of those bad habits I'm not willing to give up. We have many Native American tribes here & some of them believe that by eating the animal, you are honoring it and/or mixing spirits with them. When I allow myself to think about the fact I'm eating an animal, I try to think of it the same way & to thank it for helping sustain my life.
Yes, I do know I'm ver eccentric. :)

How do these hold up in the washing machine? If I can wash them then I'd definitely bid, there are so cute. I love the eggplant ones, purple and green are my favorite colors.

These hold up beautifully in both the washer & dryer! The yarn I'm using is 100% acrylic so, most likely won't shrink even on high heat. (Of course, anything's possible.) I throw mine in in the washer & dryer all the time. I have yet to have any problems. When I end off, I use a pretty long length of yarn for weaving in too. That way, even if a little bit comes up during the wash, you can clip it close without worrying about anything coming loose. I haven't had to clip any yet either but, I do it just in case. I'm lazy. The easier things are to wash, the happier I am!
My favorite color is purple & I love purple & green together! I'm so glad you like them. Actually, the first pair I did in purple & green were "stolen" by a family member! Lol. :)
