Description

The listing, 1889 Morgan Silver Dollar has ended.

As you can see a Beautiful 1889 Morgan silver dollar
It's in a great shape for a coin this old.
You won't see many of these here on Listia & one lucky winner is going to own it.

History of the coin:
The Morgan dollar was a United States dollar coin minted from 1878 to 1904, and then again in 1921. It was the first standard silver dollar minted since production of the previous design, the Seated Liberty dollar, ceased due to the passage of the Coinage Act of 1873, which also ended the free coining of silver. The coin is named for its designer, United States Mint Assistant Engraver George T. Morgan. The obverse depicts a profile portrait representing Liberty, while the reverse depicts an eagle with wings outstretched.
The Minting of Morgans started up again in 1921. Not since 1904 had these coins been minted. Due to the Pittman Act, passed in 1918, many of the 1921 Morgans are actually older Morgans and peace dollars melted down and re-coined.

There is no such coin as a 1922 Morgan. There is only a 1921 Morgan and a 1921 Peace dollar.

Just wondering.....I guess I'm missing some of the comments.....why is there talk of 1921 or 22 Morgans when this one isn't? Also didn't see an answer on if there is a mint mark or not......is there?

They were just explaining that they're valuable because they stopped making it after 1921 & no it does not have a mint mark :) good luck if you're bidding
