I obtained these mini luffa balls from a show at the Indiana Gourd Society this past fall. They are remarkable little gourds that dry nicely as shown.

These photo depicts the gourds with a translucent paint finish - aren't they fantastic? As the second photo shows, their insides are round miniatures of the long luffa type gourd.

I haven't seen these available through seed catalogs, so I am offering 15 of these seeds to a lucky winner! Start them in peat pellets and ensure all danger of frost has passed to transfer them to the outdoors.

i don't win i found seeds after talking to some friends in high places but these were very hard to track down i have traveled all over the world and have never ran cross these these come from south america my friend told me

Yes - I know these are unusual. I never saw them before the show. They are so unique and I love the shape. And I'm not even using the luffa portion! Imagine the possibilities...

also to let these won't well in the north plant grows best in zone 6 and up

I'm not certain how they will do in the north, but I would think that since they are mini, the chances would be better. I live in NW Indiana and grow most gourds nicely - the only ones I can't get to go are the very large varieties - they seem to need a longer growing season.

I know very little of them - if I try to grow some I may keep them on the balcony and supplement light and chicken poo. Better yet, I'll make my brother plant some - there is nothing that man can't grow :-)

their not very hard to grow they lot of water and plant food if want give it try they do best in five gallon pots
