The listing, ANTIQUE FENTON CARNIVAL GLASS has ended.
Up for bid is a beautiful pink iridescent carnival glass basket made by Junior Thompson (1957-1977) for the Fenton Company. Each glass piece is handmade and attaching basket handles requires a great deal of skill. There's less than 30 seconds to attach and shape a handle before the glass cools down and is no longer workable. In the 1950's, company President Frank M Fenton and his brother Bill Fenton decided that each Fenton basket handler should have a distinctive mark so collectors could identify the artisan who created their basket. I've included a picture of the handlers mark and I've also included the famous Fenton signature on the underside of the basket. Also included is a closeup picture of the etched pattern on the glass. This basket has what is called a ruffled edge. Because of its iridescent coloring, it's considered carnival glass
