this is simular to a candle wick yes, I wouldnt lwave it burning on the spool if thats what you are asking. What Ive seen people do... Is use it to light there cigerette and then extinguish it. They dont like the after taste lighters leave. I understand I hate the taste of zippo type lighters myself.

Didn't think of that. I gave a couple of spools to my boyfriend with a box of cigars for VD (err Valentine's). I think he showed off the waxed hemp more then anything else.
