Description

The listing, Assorted Vintage Linens for the Kitchen & Home has ended.

***Please note***
Pictures taken in bright natural light.

12 piece lot of vintage linens include: 3 medium/small aprons, 1 mini dish towel apron, unused Canada tea towel made in Ireland, unused Golf tea towel made in Ireland, 1 small square table cloth, 1 long embroidered table runner, 3 small embroidered doilies and 1 crocheted doily.

From a non-smoking home - kept in storage away from dog. She doesn't like fancy stuff on her furniture anyways.

Table cloth is 30 x 27 inches - somewhat faded but has no holes or stains.

Table runner is 40 x 14 inches - crocheted insert with a few minor stains (see pictures) but does not take away from the beautiful hand work.

Both tea towels are 28 x 18 inches - never used.

One of aprons is made of plastic - it's called pink starburst made in the 1950's.

Did not measure aprons or doilies but if anyone would like the sizes - let me know : )

This is one of my 2 year Listia Anniversary auctions .... doing a little house cleaning. Too much stuff for one person. Check out my other auctions as I put them on Listia .... collectibles, new, vintage, craft supplies and more?

All Listia rules apply.

Still free shipping.......

Nothing feels so soft as vintage pillowcases. Singles are usually easier to find. I have also found some with stains and holes that you can recycle. Another source is vintage feed or flour sacks. If they are faded, you can use a good set of fabric markers to bring the color back.

I would rather buy something old and re-do than buy something made in China. However, the United States is flooded with cheap products from China that we some times have no choice but to buy their stuff.

Bless your heart Lorri, Your mother needs you now. I know first hand how difficult a difficult parent can be. God sees you and He loves you. Your rewards will come. Just do the best you can and remember to try to love her, anyway. she does not know what she is doing. Have a Blessed day I will remember you in my prayers

Thank you so much for the words of encouragement. I don't think she realizes that words hurt too.
The past week has been double in stress. She had surgery on her knee and I couldn't get her to follow the doctor's order to rest. At least over the past year I have been getting her to slow down - she is always in a hurry! Fell down the stairs, fell on her face in the garage. It's always something but I love her very much and it was a blessing (well I didn't think so at the time) that my relationship with my fiancé of almost 20 years did not work out.

Thank you so much for sharing not only the LOVELY auction but also your situation with your parents and mother - my heart goes out to you! I also take care of elders part-time and find it both rewarding and challenging at times... God bless you for your dedication to your mother. Big collector of vintage linens here :D you have some really beautiful pieces- would LOVE to see your mama's collection cuz yours is gorgeous - Fanned, watching and bidding for sure!

I so appreciate the kind words! Challenging and rewarding...It really can be both these. When she yells at me and says hateful things - I have to remember it's not her but the disease.

I wanted to thank you again for the sweet comment and this FANTASTIC auction...looking forward to more of your auctions Lori :D! Also, I have a cool idea (but it wasn't mine, a sweet 90-something lady suggested it years ago) and it is a way to use any old linen, pillowcase, etc. with stains that might otherwise ruin it...you can frame it so that it highlights the embroidery and hides the stains, either cutting it or just folding it and placing behind glass in a frame! Love that idea..I was telling her I have some beautfiul pillowcases my Grandma embroidered and that I wish they weren't so worn and she said to use them as framed art! Also, prayers for you and yours as you deal with the sad and upsetting things that disease causes...I'm sure your mama does NOT mean the hateful things she says, it is the disease like Betteryan was saying...so hard not to take it personally though I'm sure. HUGS and PRAYERS FOR BLESSINGS!!! Going to go see what else you have up for auction! :D

Julie...thank you so much for the encouragement, advice and prayers. I wish more family members would not ignore their elderly relatives. It is so sad to see people in nursing homes who never get visitors.

I'm saving some vintage embroidered pieces that came off pillowcases, old hankies and other items to place on an apron or frame with vintage buttons. Mom has a wonderful collection of buttons.

Oh so many projects to do and where does the time go? Also if I get an idea in my head to make something - I want certain items to make it with but usually they are hard too find.

That is true. Our neighbor stopped over the other day with his wife (she has more advanced Alzheimer's) and she was playfully patting her husband. I was going through my embroider floss and she told me that she had some as well. I learned she used to make beautiful pictures. They change so fast from one moment to another.

Such a nice auction. I know what you mean about family members with Alzheimer's. God bless you for hanging in there with her. My mother in law screams and tries to run away at night. Such a trying disease... :(

She isn't at that stage yet but my neighbor down the road, his wife tries to runaway all the time. He has someone over every day now because she has become such a handful.
My grandfather died from complications of Alzheimer's disease. He used to curse and try to hit my grandmother all the time.
I try to do my best...

You are so very, very welcome! Myself and my husband are both disabled so I completely understand.
I too use what I make through here to replenish my crafting supplies and for my family. I have 7 grandchildren so lots of birthdays =) Plus I all ready have a nice start towards Christmas gifts.
I'll keep checking periodically to see if you listed the hankies so I can maybe win some of those.
Even if I don't win this I'm glad I came across your auction.

You are so lucky to have children and grandchildren. I was not able to have children.

Nice vintage hankies at a reasonable price are getting harder to find. One of my favorite Christmas ornaments is an angle my mother made out of a beautiful hanky. The repros made in China are just not the same!

A possible idea is to use an old pillowcase and make your own hankies

I have been looking every where for old vintage hankies. I found one listian that has put up a few. I make vintage Sunday hanky dolls with them. Plus my sister uses old linens and material to make brand new vintage aprons. Each piece you has is truly beautiful. I'm definitely watching, most likely bidding, and fanned you. Good luck!

I have some vintage hankies....just have not listed them yet. Also have vintage material, notions, lace, rick rack, ribbon etc. I just can't afford to give free shipping too often, so I list what I can.

I am a unpaid care giver to my elderly parents. My mother is very difficult because she is has mid-stage Alzheimer's. One minute she is nice .... the next she hates me.

I am not looking for pity. I just want people to understand that I'm not out to make $ on my auctions. I just want to be able to get things for gifts or craft supplies.

Thank you for looking at my auction and fanning me : )

It means a lot to me.
