HOLD shipping on this... More research indicates this is NOT 512 GB. It's more of a 4 or a 8 GB stick reprogrammed to fool Windows to read it as a 512 GB and it will corrupt your data if you exceed this. I cannot retract my proxy bid according to Listia rules, but I do not want this item. Sorry.
Wow. I cannot delete the auction or I would because I take pride in what I offer people here. I am going to have this tested and see what comes up. I appreciate your input greatly. I certainly would never want to sell something that's fake or even worse maybe detrimental to a system itself. I am going to play it safe. Whatever bids were placed here will be void as far as I'm concerned. The auction may have to run its course but that's as far as it will go. I have no idea what this is all about but I am not here to hurt anyone so consider the auction over. Thank you sir for your input.
Thanks! Even I was fooled at first, and it's definately not the sellers fault. These type of drives are everywhere because Windows does tell you it's a 512 GB stick, when in fact, it's more like a 6 GB stick reprogrammed by chinese counterfieters to make you believe it's 512 GB. Seller has been very helpful and I have no problem waiting until auctions end. So sorry this happened to both of us, but sometimes stuff like this happens. :/
Seller were you able to test the stick to see if in would hold 10+. I know there are some sneaky people out there who are talented in fooling windows, but there are also legit versions of this flash drive. Would love to know how it went! Awesome auction.
Thank you so much for asking this question. I am testing this and it does take over 30 hours to complete depending on how much actual memory it has. It does show 499 GB and states mass storage when I plugged it in to my computer. But I will post the official report from H2testw as soon as I can. Definitely in the next day or so. Thanks for your encouragement!!
I will post an update in the morning when I get off work. It is still running the test. Such a slow process and it was started only yesterday early evening. It was up to 150,000 MB when I left this evening. Keep watching. I'll keep updating. Thanks so much!
I have an identical 512 GB transformer and ran it in an hour and a half today. It turned out fine. So I'm going to post the results and the auction can go on with the replacement. (If there's anything left of this auction!) It's been a mess. Thanks for your concern and I hope yours turns out good.
Thank you for letting me know about these things. I wouldn't have researched anything had you not started sharing what you came across. I had no idea people could be so dishonest!
512 GB? Question (from the man standing at the back of the room)
At 512 GB, I can replace my hard drive with this stick, run several operating systems, and never have to replace my desktop hard drive. Are you really auctioning off a 512 GB flash drive? If so, my proxy bid will be insane. Don't you mean 51 MB? There's a big difference there. Like several trillion ones and zeros. Thanks for answering this question.
One of the tell tail signs of a fake flash drive is the slow speed during the test phase. H2testw will eventually give you the final results, but what's happening is it's trying to write to non existant memory. But the test could take several hours, if not days, to finish.
