Description

The listing, Antique/Vintage Lamps (2) has ended.

I believe they are cast iron?? Heavy! See pictures that show bottoms of lamps.

Takes the skinny long candelabra type bulbs (2 in each lamp)
Turns on by the switch on cord that you roll til it clicks.

Each lamp weighs 5#
Each lamp is 17 1/2" tall
See pictures #3 & #4 shows them working.

I have used them in my living room for years and with the right shades they look beautiful....

So now we are done with everything except the shipping.
I think***estimated***hopefully accurate****
15# because I added 5 # for box and packing but maybe should be more??
Box 19 x 17 x 13 (laying lamps opposite ends to each other so it won't take such a big box.
My zip code is 32714
I came up with $27.84 USPS Standard Post

I can only change the SHIPPING TO FREE BEFORE THERE IS A BID***********
********BEFORE SOMEONE BIDS**********
****if someone wants these lamps and wants me to pay shipping ***** message me and I will ADD to the GIN 150,000 credits and I will change the auction to FREE shipping but only if additional 150,000 is added to the current GIN of 450,000 credits.

pot metal doesn't mean they are not old or not vintage ... just means they are not cast iron. All of my comments and concerns were based off of the pictures you took not stating anything wrong with them just checking them out... I like the look of them. Pot metal does mean they are not as heavy as cast iron. I do know the light sockets are not as old as most of the cast iron's i've seen but remember when electricity was introduced not everyone converted over their lamps until years later. Regardless they are still nice looking lamps and even for a more antique look you can get shades used and antique or spruce some up to make the look of the era on these.

Thank you for your comments - if it hadn't been for them I wouldn't have asked my Dad to look at them to verify they were cast iron. I just assumed they were because they are so heavy and the bottoms makes it look even more like cast iron. Oh well, like I said, the lamps are still on auction and they are very unique and I love them but just don't want anyone to win the auction and not get exactly what I told them they were.

Thanks for your comments! ~~Brenda

there are no dates or anything on the tags ? and thank you they shouldn't have the same numbers though ...

no there are no dates and the numbers on the tag are for the style lamp I think -- they are not like a serial number so they original they were the identical same stock number.

If you read the full description it will explain the shipping. I have gone to the post office given them the size box and weight and used my zip code 32714 and my brothers in South Bend, IN and post office quoted $27.84 **the same as what I came up with trying to calculate it at home. I don't know where your zip code is but I gave you what I used for an estimate. So you can see I CANNOT GUARANTEE THE SHIPPING WILL BE $27.84 but it is a good estimate from the POST OFFICE - not just me.

That makes me wonder if they are remakes (they may still be cast iron and not be original). I tried to look them up to compare value and the only thing I found was a lamp not even close to these. Need to find another website to do the search in ...

what do you mean " they may still be cast iron and not be original"
THEY ARE DEFINITELY VINTAGE LAMPS (and much much older than 20 years old) so I don't really know what you are trying to say

I didn't think they were less than 20 years old but something seems off about them and I'm trying to figure out what ... I think someone must had converted them from an old type of wiring to a newer style (which still could had been about 20 - 30 years ago). Don't be offended, I check EVERYTHING out I'm interested in especially if it says vintage ... not you but people do over use the words to get rid of item which is a huge reason I stopped using ebay years ago ... It's not you. I'm just a very detailed person. I am thankful for the close up pictures you took as well. There is nothing wrong with the lamps or your description. I just do further investigation. I like to know what I'm getting you know and if I am getting a good deal or not if I do bid. I REALLY like the lamps and like that they are cast iron.

Well, I have to be honest and let all of you know that I gave the lamps to my Dad this morning (he knows everything) and he said, "get a magnet" guess what....the magnet doesn't stick so he said THESE LAMPS ARE NOT CAST IRON! He said maybe some kind of 'pot metal' I don't know what they are made of but I do know now they are not cast iron....I apologize...if the current winner wants me to request admin to give credits back that is fine with me. I promise I did not intentionally misrepresent them to be cast iron. Even at first glance at the bottom my Dad thought they might be. but the magnet proved it ...

WOW! the credits that are bid on this so far have a cash value of about 34 - 39
cents considering for every dollar you can buy between 3400 and 4080 credits depending on the quantity that you buy at one time.

LESSON LEARNED!!!! lol
