Description

The listing, Full Liberty 1853 With Arrows Silver Seated Liberty Dime (ERROR COIN?) has ended.

THIS IS THE DEAL OF THE DAY, AND FOR THE TRUE COLLECTORS.

This auction is for a VERY SHARP, FULL LIBERTY, 1853 WITH ARROWS, Silver Seated Liberty Dime.

Finding this coin with Full Facial Features and the wear Limited to the Hair and Shoulders, let alone the Full Liberty and Scroll Edges all intact is extremely hard to find.

Lastly, this coin has had many eyes on it attempting to figure out, if in fact it is a Mint Error Coin. This coin is worth quite a bit without an error, and there have been many experts look at it and they have come up with 3 different ideas. The 2 less likely are a Die Clash and a Lamination Flaw, but a Strike Thru from grease is most likely what this coin shows.

If you see it, let the discussion start.

The scans above are of the actual coin that you will receive, and are provided for you to determine the condition and/or grade of it.
As usual, I will start this auction off at 499 credits to allow for you, the bidders, to set the price.
I never clean or alter coins in any way, and do my best to allow you to see every detail and/or every blemish that the coins I list have, so that you can make an informed and confident bid.
I am no longer accepting GIN offers for my auctions, everyone now gets a shot at bidding.
The winner will receive this via FREE SHIPPING W/Tracking.
Remember that all Listia rules apply.

Most of you know that I have been adding a rider to all of my auctions, stating that the post office is no longer reliable enough to get anything delivered in a timely manner and I wish that this was not necessary.
I just want you to know beforehand that this will be sent the next available day after auction end, but I have no control over it after I do drop it off.
Thank you for your interest in my auctions and stopping by to view them.

it was a tough decision to add this one here. I thought it would bring many more comments about the question of it being an error or not. good luck

The arrows look like they are up to high from the date

the arrows are always up against the base of Liberty's seat, and I would have loved for them to not be there at all. I always wondered why the arrows were added only on the 1853 thru 1855 years, but that is not what the "error" on the coin may be.

You mean the indention over the right arm of liberty

yes, I believe that the only thing that could have caused that is from grease on the die during the strike. I have had many agree, but as mentioned in the description, there have been a couple of other possibilities brought up and even thought to be the cause.

you do need to check out all of my other auctions then, for I have added quite a few that may not go quite as high, but definitely are well worth a look.

I try to keep listing better coins. every time I receive something new that will replace a coin that I already have because it is of a better grade, the old coin will get added here about 80% of the time.

This is a great auction but I'm wondering why it didn't get edited or pulled by listia. The rest of us can't say not responsible after it leaves our hands. The rule states "You cannot state that you are not responsible for safe arrival of the item or ensuring that items are delivered as described. For example, you cannot state "I am not responsible for this item once I ship it out". It is the responsibility of the seller to ensure the listed item gets to the winner."

I am not stating that I am not responsible for you to get the item, I am stating that I am not responsible for how long it takes to get to you. I know of 3 separate winners that can attest to the fact that if they do not get their item, they have either gotten a replacement or their credits returned. read into it what you think, and do not bid if you believe that you will not get what you bid on.

funny comments, yes, I guess die clash's or wax like you say are the two most likely causes for the error! great coin, nice detail! Way to rich for my humble blood!

yes, the best of times have been working with people who come up with reasons for what looks like an error on it. it has given me some real insight into who is just whack and who may be a reliable and informative source for coins in the future.
even without any error on this coin it most likely is between an EF and AU which does put it into a range that will get a little rich. maybe next time, or you should check out what else I have already listed or see what still is lined up for the next few weeks.
