Description

The listing, 5ct Rare Tamarind seeds has ended.

Botanical name: Tamarindus indica

Originating from tropical Africa, the fruit’s distinctive sour-sweet tang has led to its global cultivation and regard. But besides being widely used in desserts and seasoning, the Tamarind possesses a wide spectrum of antibacterial activity, so it’s no wonder this plant became an ingredient in traditional medicine across India and Africa.
Known for its abundant edible fruit often used in spices, cooking, and even Worcestershire sauce, the tamarind tree has a large size and distinguishable bean-shaped, reddish-brown pods. While this tropical tree often grows to a massive 100 feet tall, it is often cultivated directly from seeds and grown indoors for a time. A tropical or subtropical environment is ideal for growing this plant, but it can survive brief bouts with cold temperatures, especially once it is grown. It is best to cultivate the young seedlings indoors where temperatures are stable and the young plants are easily sheltered from any harsh weather conditions. For the best results, plant the seeds in the summer.

Here are couple of links on the health benefits of Tamarind and how to grow it. And there's much more information on the Web…..
