A dime fits exactly in the middle. On the is bigger than the ring. See pics.

Ok. Now that I am on the net and nit the app I see it's to close to auction ending to add pics. But a dime fits perfect inside. No gap. Penny goes just past the back edge of the ring if the other edge of the penny is on the inside of the band behind the gem. I hope this helps. If you need more clarity please ask.
