Hey Gary,
I couldn't find "CDMA" anywhere on the box. I listed GSM as it stated it on LG's website about the phone and referred to GSM on the box, "Nationwide Coverage on America's Largest GSM Network" (with a coverage map in yellow on picture 1). I think they buy minutes from AT&T and sell them to their customers at a pay as you go rate. There's very little information about Tracfone being either one, but I believe that it is GSM as they stated that If you bring your own phone to Tracfone and it's unlocked that you're compatible, but if you want to use a CDMA phone you have to use a conversion kit. See a couple links below for further details.

Tracfone actually has both CDMA and GSM. I have both, but they could not and would not activate the CDMA one for some reasons that they tried to explain to me but had no luck. Here is a video showing the Sunrise and the Lucky which are the same phones only difference is one is a "CDMA" and the other is a "GSM" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02j93I1GCKY

Thanks for the info. Appreciate it. Maybe it was either the equipment requirements that you couldn't meet with that particular phone or the time in which you tried. Looks like they've changed quite a bit in the past few years.
Until late 2013, TracFone service was limited to TracFone-branded handsets (all TracFone handsets are pre-programmed by the manufacturer; therefore, the handset is locked including its latest GSM models). Other unlocked GSM handsets will not accept TracFone SIM cards, because Tracfone SIM cards are locked to the handset to which they are programmed. Additionally, on most handsets, some features like USB and Bluetooth have been modified by the manufacturer to prevent direct transfer of user files. In December 2013, TracFone unveiled "Bring your own phone," which allows customers to use a Verizon Certified CDMA phone on the TracFone network. Since June 2015, Tracfone have also allow compatible or unlocked GSM phones to be used on the Tracfone network through the Bring Your Own Device program.

I am commenting on this item WHILEST ON MY SUNRISE ;-)

It is 100% a microSIM style phone & also only has 512mb system ram (box never says that .. the companies are sometimes idiots).

Not a bad little phone. Def better then my older iPhone 4, as that was a single core. Not bad. I use a different provider but still a great little piece of technology
