I usually wrap the cord around the Kindle and it works just fine. If you're ok with this or Have the know-how to get it back to normal then you Have a Perfectly Operating machine!!

I own several kindles of different sizes and generations and you are right about the charging issue ,I have had that problem with every single one of mine. I even wrote just recently to Amazon about it ,and I am finding out I am not the first person to go thru this with my Kindles . I feel its something in the way they are built ,and this has been going on for awhile ! I say FIX IT AMAZON! But like you say they charge still and I guess that is all that really matters!!!

True! My mother had received a Kindle Fire Hd and same thing! I wasn't aware of it until then and grew even more suspicious! But it charges and even tho it's a pain it works!

Have you tried a different charging cord? Could it be your cord that's the problem with how it changes?

I've tried several cords and they all needed to be positioned differently to make it charge so I believe it's the charging port.
