Grams Attic.... This came out of my grandma's attic that was in a box full of shells and sand, not sure what it is, looks like an egg. The box is old and worn, and the cotton in it also DOES NOT look great, so you can put skip box and cotton if you don't want that I don't blame you. I tried to get pics of all angels, and show it in comparison to my hand. In the box it looks like it had a separate compartment for a stand or papers...don't know, but whatever was in that compartment is missing. I don't know what type of material it is, when I tap it on glass, it sounds like a rock or marble that type of hardness, but but to run my fingers on it it feels so smooth as id it were coated but has a couple bumps that's not smooth. My daughter thinks its some sort of rock, I do not know...it says list in collectibles today and I guess it can not get any more collectible than grams attic. Please let me know if you want the original box and cotton like I said they are not in good condition, but the egg looking thing inside looks fine. If you have any questions feel free to ask...and don't forget free shipping!!

Listia takes 50 credits for fees and 10% of the total take, i.e. a 10,000 sale will meet you 9,000 - the 50....and don't forget your shipping costs. Check out what credits are going for, it's 8-9k per dollar. The egg is gorgeous, I've had my eye on it for some time:)

It's not marble or alabaster.... t's one of 2. Is there any gold tone "flecks" in or throughout it? If so, it is Lapis Lazrus.... If it is white and blue mostly all over, it is a stone called Soda lite.. I make them. Lapis has been around for thousands of years, used on King tut to make the blue eye make-up.... it is expensive and heavy! Soda Litte is not inexpensive either... it's a win ...win!!!! Watching and fanned

Hello, Very Beautiful Stone... Yes They are used in Healing as well as Hot Oil Rubs. But the Stone is "NOT" alabaster, nor is it marble, but in fact it is "Flower Dumortierite" a very scarce Stone for sure. I've added a link to show the Stone in a Focal Bead or Pendant form, hope this helps....Blessings........

No, I didn't mean gypsum. I used to collect these eggs back in the 1970s. I had lots of them, I just don't know what has become of them. They were always referred to as "Alabaster Eggs". They had shiny gold stickers on them that stated this. They were all gorgeous, just like the one you have. This brings back fond memories of days gone by. Thanks for offering it. :-)

Ahhhh I wish there was a sticker telling me something...lol... it has became the big what is this thing, in this house...lol. The box is so raggedy and old...there is nothing on there telling me what it is...the what is it at my house has become the what is it on here. I was not sure on the charliolite like the one person wrote me about, she said they use the stones for massage.... I will get the others on here also. Some are wood, and some brass, and some are very unique. Thanks

My alabaster eggs are very heavy. Alabaster is a mineral, ie a stone. It often has swirly patterns. :-)

Actually it feels like marble or stone, alabaster would be much lighter in weight. One listian wrote and said it was the stone Charliotie. It has the weight of like a rock, but smooth to the touch. Defiantly not alabaster.

My mom didn't keep the belly buttons I think I would have passed out lol!! If I can make a suggestion for you ... If she still had her wedding dress keep it and if you have any small granddaughters take them and get pictures made in with them in the dress . It was the best thing I did ! They are gorgeous !! I am having hers framed and having it hanged in my walk in closet ... Hers has antique lace on it

That does sound, neat. I dont have any grandchildren yet, even though my kids are grown. I gave my moms wedding dress to my niece. I use to keep an out fit of my kids, every year they were in school then when they finished made them a quilt to take of the different pieces of fabric. Your way sounds great also!! :) I love lace.

Oh yes sweetie , my mom had kept the scrubs from the hospital that my first son was born in I just about lost it ... She still loved my dad and did even the day she died ...

Sounds like my mom, she kept even the belly buttons that fell off... gross. But my mom never dated anyone after getting a divorce after 40 years of married. Just made a shadow box of a fee sentimental things, the rest needs to go to people that enjoy that the things she liked,.

I know what you mean , it was that way when we were going through my mom's stuff . We would see something that brought back a memory and sit and cry then move on and look through something else . I think that was one of the hardest things I have ever done other than having to bury her.

Yes, its hard seeing something they kept forever that you made in second grade, and even harder to think on what are you going to keep and what to let go, and I know both my mom and grams, would love for others to be able to collect the same kind of stuff they loved.

My daughter said it felt like marble or a stone, put its pretty smooth. One person wrote me and said it was Chariolite, used by healers in massage. I found many more, I think grams just liked the egg shaped cause I also found some painted wooden ones and brass ones, that I will also be listing. This is the only one in an old box though.

As for your Avon bottles, post them all in auction. I just did the same thing 6 months ago, together, they did great. PPL want those! You could get at least 3,000 -- 21,000 a piece. Sometimes even more. You'll be Pleasantly surpised.

To me it looks like Lapis Lazuli or Kyanite. Both are really nice healing stones. I know I have found several crystal/stone eggs that look just like that. They are awesome and I LOVE them.

Did you think I meant "plaster"?
May 3rd, 2016 at 7:37:41 PM PDT by
Original
No, I thought you meant alabaster. There are two types of alabaster. One is gypsum, which is used today. The other is calcite, which was used in ancient times including by the Ancient Egyptians. The gypsum is a chalky white and is pretty light compared to the calcite that is like stone. The gypsum kind has a Mohs hardness rating of 1.5-2 and be scratched with a fingernail. The calcite kind has a Mohs rating of 3.The first can be scratched with a finger nail or knife. The other can not. I wish I knew what her egg was. I got more but that is the only one in the box. So I do aprreciate everyone that writes on it...thanks

hello, it is a little over two and a half inches tall. I just learned how to do Gin, and the girl that helped me, said to always add extra points because they take away points for doing Gin. I really don't know what this thing is, besides looking like an egg, or what it made of. I wanted to do a long auction on it so people can comment on it and help me know what it is, they their grandparents had one, or about how old. I almost did not list it because the box and cotton look gross to me, but it said collectibles and I guess grams liked it to have saved it... but I don't want it...lol. I have enough stuff from inheriting several houses from family. Lots of stuff has got to go. This thing is odd though, I have many stones and none that look like this, I tend to like crystals better. I am getting ready to list more items, in collectibles... I don't think I really want to pay shipping on over 100 avon perfume bottles, so those will probably go in a yard sale soon. Thank you for your interest and you can watch the item. I put it at 499 to try and be fair to everyone, such I do not have the greatest knowledge on it. :)
