I think maybe I wasn't clear with my question. My question is if takes the liquid gas (gas that you put in a car) or the gas used to refill torches and lighters. I have seen situations that have used each one.

yes liquid, sorry. Zippo type but i think I actually used some charcoal lighter fluid in mine. I don't see why the torch fluid would not work also. All it is doing is soaking into the cotton wick and needs to be a flammable. Heck rubbing alcohol or drinking (lol) would work also I bet.

is stated in note. I have also seen that you can replace the "wick" once it burns up too.
