This Stuff is Free Too:
Description

The listing, 64GB Solid State Drive has ended.

This auction is for a very slightly used 64GB SATA 3GB/s (SATA II) SSD. This SSD was used for benchmark testing and has had 3 Operating Systems previously installed on it for testing purposes. The drive was also previously disassembled and re-assembled to verify components used to build it. It is physically bare, with no labels or branding on it and aside from the testing, has had no real use.

Drive is built with Toshiba MLC Flash, with 128MB Hynix DDR DRAM buffer and Indilinx Barefoot controller.

Since there is no branding on it, I included some benchmark screen shots so you could see the speed you can get from the drive. Drives of this type seem to go for around $60-100 bucks online still, so I think whoever wins is getting a pretty decent deal.

Since the item is obviously light, I'm offering free UPS Ground shipping w/ tracking number included. Happy Bidding!

If you'll look over the photos, you be able to see what speeds the drive is getting. I don't have the original spec sheet to provide the "rated" speeds of the drive.

How did you receive this SSD, and is it clean of any OS?

We bought it, along with several others, for benchmark testing. It's part of the check in process to remove all the drive labels and markings before we disassemble them to verify components. There in currently no drive table (not formatted) on the drive at all, since the testing process requires it, The drive previous contained a copy of Windows XP, Vista and Win7.OS was installed, partial testing done, File Table removed, testing completed. Rinse and repeat.

This one is not the best, but it holds it's own as an OS drive for sure.

I have a Acer One netbook with a lousy 8gb SSD in it. PLEASE ... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD ... tell me why it makes it run so much slower then a actual HDD?

The computer is a 1.6ghz with 2gb of system memory. Yes, I have seen 1.4ghz systems with 512mb-01gb of system memory run WAY MUCH FASTER!

I'm pretty sure that SSD's make systems slower? If not, I will bid on this but I thought these drives weren't as good as they were supposed to be ...

Wikipedia is helpful but until I have used this 8gb SSD drive i have here now, I thought SSD were junk. LOL.

No offense to you at all ... just wondering since U have one of these.

The reason your SSD is slower is because it is actually a small card that runs on a mSATA bus. This type of interface provides less bandwidth, and SSD based mSATA cards are less sophisticated and generally slower. Your system can't use the drive I am auctioning.

I had an SSD failure on my system this weekend, so I had to use one of the 128GB drives, but I should have time to post the other 128GB this evening. I may also have a 256GB to post, but I am not 100% sure about whether I want to use it myself or not.
