Well, Christine, there are a ton on ebay. Had I realized that I would not have bid $40 on these and would have purchased them there. They match my dining room. But since you are so gun hoe and kind of snotty I will help you out. To outbid me you will need to bid more than 1,000,000 because that is my high bid. Now, suck it! lol

Do you have any idea how old this is?

I can't give you a solid number, because I'm not sure. My grandmother had them when I was little and I'm now 46 yrs old. I don't know how long she had them before then. The base and stand are very solid. The shakers are made out of very thick glass and heavy. I hope that helps you out at least a little.

I found a ton of these on ebay anywhere from $8 to $15 a set. My question is are you sure they are silver, it seems they originated in Japan but if they were real silver they would be going for a lot more.

I was told by a family member that it is sliver, but I cannot ask my grandmother because she passed away 24 yrs ago. My grandmother had them when I was little, and that was at least 40 yrs ago. The shakers show their age, but on the bottom of the base. It still shows the silver really well.

My question is reasonable & Im not going to re-comment, verify, research or hassle you like SOME people feel compelled to do. Im very interested in this unusual piece. I've been going to Auctions, Estate Sales, Flea Markets, etc. since I was conceived! My mother opened the first Antique Store in my Historic Home Town. I have never seen anything close to resembling this! What a great item! Plated or not you will not see this gracing the table at the next dinner party you attend! I have several plated family treasures and they have been dipped only a few times in the past 50 yrs. YOU must properly store them & they will last! Oh~measurements please! (the big question)! Thanks so much! F&W!

I think people should bid what they think an item is worth not sit back and try to outbid someone the last minute. I think it is rude. I bid what I thought it was worth if it was silver. I bid so high because of the sentimental value to the owner and it would be disrespectful to bid $10, then $12 etc trying to outbid someone else. I hate people that do that. Since you are "watching" I imagine you must be one of those people. Now, pull up your big girl pants, bid 1,000,100 and show some respect. Solid silver or not, I will win this auction and they will be sitting on my dining room table and I will love and cherish them as I am sure her grandmother did. Unless you bid as I said.

The stand is almost 5 inches tall and the base is 3 1/2 inches wide. The shakers are 3 inches long and thank you very much christinelynch583.

beanie_70 she won't bid high enough to get it. She is cheap and wants something for nothing and to insult everyone else. My question is reasonable because I like to bid my high bid. I need to know what I am bidding on. I imagine you hope the set goes to her but I doubt very much she will pay $40 like I will. I am glad she asked that question though, they are bigger than I expected. I so can't wait to have these on my dining room table. ;-)

I know I can be "out there" but I do have a true love for things previously loved. I bought a cook book because it had been used and loved when I could have bought a brand new one for the same price. I cherish that which was cherished by someone else.

I have a grape lamp that these would match perfectly besides the exception of the lamp having different colors. It was passed down to me from my grandmother and she bought it back in the 30's or 40's if I remember correctly. I have many different types of glass like Fenton and Murano that I've collected or it's been passed down through the generations. This is a very beautiful set you have! I wish I could afford to outbid CuteSheCat but that's not possible. I'll watch this til the end though and try! I do hope you get what they are worth b/c stuff like this is way more precious than any brand new item any day of the week! The real value is the sentiment in which no monetary value can be placed :) I'll be back after I do my rewards page for points so I can see what else you have up! Thank you so very much for sharing this precious item :)
