1889-O VAM 6 DOUBLE DATE, VF 30! MORGAN SILVER DOLLAR! 1889/18-9 O! NGC!

I have included several pics to view of this awesome Morgan Silver Dollar~ Wowowee!

A VAM is a Peace or Morgan silver dollar die variety that has been identified in an important book called The Comprehensive Catalog and Encyclopedia of Morgan and Peace Dollars by Leroy C. Van Allen and A. George Mallis. The term VAM derives from the first initials of Van Allen's and Mallis' last names. These two researchers noticed small differences between coins produced in the same year at the same mint.

They began to photograph and catalog these differences in an effort to identify the different die varieties in the Morgan and Peace silver dollar series.

The great popularity of noting the many die varieties found, especially on Morgan Dollars, has led to the term VAM being used to describe practically any deviation from a "normal" Morgan or Peace silver dollar for that year and mint.

19,000,0000 is a little steep for a coin, but, even for a graded one at that ....but apparently Americans lack the education on coins and knowledge of their values..

You my friend lack the consideration to be polite on other members listings. If you don't like the coin, back away from the listing and stick to what you know best, which is selling greeting cards and inserts.

If you knew what type coin that this is, you would have never left your comment. I myself am aware of the TOP-100 variety coins and, am in fact only trying to offer something nice to my fellow Listia friends ,fans and members.

You should read the listing and, at least have done a click of research before you attempt to be so derogatory on another persons listing. It is down right rude and grounds to welcome you to my block party.

If you don't like Americans go back to wherever you came from and let us be.

It's to bad that you have people saying such stuff to you. If they don't want to pay the value of a VAM VARIETY they should just bid like everyone else. Thanks for the info regarding the particular coins difference without posting an additional picture. VAMS are collected by a special group that collect error coins as well. I have plenty of double over dated coins that are not graded as VAMS. Good auction!!

We just added more images using my Dino Cam.

We do not grade coins, please view the images of this coin and judge for yourself, coin grading is subjective, and graders may disagree about the grade of a coin so, it is important to judge the coin yourself too.

Thank you for your interest's and for bidding with us.

F&w! Also idk whats up with the American-bashing lately. I'm seeing a lot of it. If she hates us so much she shouldn't live here. What a bizarre corelation anyway, a coin auction=opportunity to complain about Americans? Nonsense

Would you by some chance have a pic of the same coin that is not of a VAM variety to show the difference of this coin and a standard mint Morgan?

Original
I am sorry I do not, A standard Morgan will not have the double date, 1889/18-9 O

Don't mean to sound dumb, but what does graded mean?
Apr 6th, 2017 at 3:40:36 PM PDT by
Original
Coin grading is the process of determining the grade or condition of a coin, one of the key factors in determining its value. A coin's grade is generally determined by five criteria: strike, preservation, luster, color, and attractiveness.

I collect coins but I collect Canadian coins because my grandfather started buying me uncirculated sets and a silver dollar of the year since I was born and also dimes, pennies, quarters, loonies, twoonies and other coins. Most have been seen by a professional and graded. I don't have the experience of US money though my husband is American and his family come from Wyoming. That coin is amazing. I love it. If you shipped to Canada, I would pay for shipping I would love to bid on it. That comment from Marie1007 is the first ugly comment I have read and I just don't get people like that. If you don't know what you are talking about, ask questions to properly educate yourself, read, look it up, learn about it, then you can comment but never negatively. That is rude and insulting. Plus she know has a bunch of people ticked at her for being rude. Not smart. I love your coin. Keep them coming.
