I don't own most of the things I sell. With the credits I win, I buy stuff that is easily sellable on eBay or Amazon Marketplace, like gold and silver coins and high-end electronics. Those things on Listia sell not for 27,500 credits per real world dollars but 100,000 and up. Sometimes I find them for less but it is a long often fruitless search to find them. Anyway, when I do find things which I think I can make money on, note I don't get the full amount, Listia takes the 10% GIN fee. Of course, also eBay and Amazon Marketplace takes their fee too and those are also around 10%. After that I must pay shipping for the item I win on Listia to send it to the Amazon or eBay buyer, since I always offer free shipping.

Also, people return things all the time. Someone sold me a Nintendo New 3DS XL here on Listia for 10 million credits. That was ostensibly a deal because they sell for $200 on eBay. It was supposed to be new but when it came the box was a bit beat up. I sold it on eBay for $179 to a soldier stationed overseas. Well it turned out that the thing wouldn't charge. Being a soldier and just an ordinary customer too I thought it was important to get him a good unit and not disappoint him. Well then, I found out the new ones were out of stock in all the major stores and the cheapest new units were selling for $229, so I had to shell that out. He returned the broken unit to me, but it's past the 30-day mark so I can't return the item to the Listia. It may appear like I'm price gouging, but I'm just selling most of the stuff at the same prices others are selling high end stuff and they are all charging that for good reason.

It's like a country that conducts most of its business on the black market, the government exchange rate, i.e. the Listia official one is unrealistic. Those who aren't selling at the $1 per 100,0000 credits, either have a huge credit resale limits, are newbies and losing money or are essentially giving money away.
