Description

The listing, CREATURE CARD #20 Ink Edition! ORIGINAL ARTWORK BY RHONDA CHASE (ATC) has ended.

This auction is for Creature Card #20 in the Ink Edition.

This drawing was created the day it was posted. This card is the standard regulation size of 3.5" x 2.5". It is done in Ink on Vellum 100lb Bristol Paper .
My goal with this project is to spread art around the globe and what better place then here, at what better price then free! I will attempt to make and post a new card every day for the whole year!

These cards are mailed in an acid free, black backed, protective sleeve inside of a top loader for their protection and for your display should you choose not to frame the work.

I encourage the winning bidder to give the creature a name if they like :) (and any other information about the character such as gender, scale and any other defining attributes they choose)

Thanks for looking! I appreciate your comments and your time. I always fan back :)

Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) are miniature pieces of art that are traded around the world. Artists create, trade, and collect art at organized "swap" events, either in person or online. It is a great way to meet other artist and share your work. The only official rule for ATCs is the size: 3.5" x 2.5".

his face... [her face?] is disturbing. and somehow risque. heh....

it's interesting to watch the development of your creatures. how in the world do you manage to come up with so many unusual creatures without looking like anything that came before?

Your right it is a bit risqué. At one point it almost had a butt and I had to work to take that away. I think this little thing wanted to be even more so then I allowed. I think one of the mail ways they end up different is the free association style I use. I start with a shape or some inspiration or just making dots and then watch to see what happens. Eventually I have to decide what it could be. I like to look at it and think, what else could it be and then do that instead. They basically create themselves, the way I see it lol :)

i've decided i'll get between 16 and 24 of your cards and have them all framed together in a sort of mini-gallery for my office. i imagine visitors are going to be drawn to it first thing before any of the other weird items i have.....

I'll be interested to see how you compose that. Since many of the cards don't fit with others as well. They are made on an individual basis and not to try to work with any other card necessarily. It's freeing for me to think this way. Once you get it together I'd love to see how it looks. I'll be curious to see what images you are "drawn" to the most lol.

i like the way you approach it. certainly leaves a lot to the imagination but moreso the free rein of the 'mind of the pen' itself, only loosely controlled by it's wielder.

i had a roommate during college that was an art major, and when he started the pointillism portion of those classes, he got stuck, unsure how to transition from the linear format he was so used to and comfortable with. it's no wonder he ended up as a draftsman, doing straight-forward architectural drawing for a living!

have you ever tried doing multiple color pointillism, such as that by Georges Seurat & Lemmen, van Gogh, and Henri-Edmond Cross? I'd like to see where color takes you. perhaps your next series?

Well I don't tend to work in color, and I've been away from it for so long that if it's not photographic color I'm a bit intimidated by it. I do try to do something different with the cards every month to keep myself and hopefully others interested. I am thinking of doing gouache one month, combine different ones... there is still lots of time :)

I tend to be very linear based as well, mostly I work with graphite and charcoal so ink in itself has been a struggle for me. After the first few days I did a pointillism work and really enjoyed the process, so I've been continuing on with that. They are starting to incorporate the line in a less heavy manner.
